It is a well known fact that creative education has always been looked down upon by the Indian masses in general. In fact, not too long ago, students enrolling for product design courses in India were considered to be lacking academic brilliance and even any ambition in life. Thankfully, this outlook has undergone a significant change over the past couple of decades, with people adapting a more liberal attitude towards such courses and even the students pursuing them. However, despite this phenomenal change, much still needs to be done to bring creative education at par with other technical courses in terms of the scope of success they offer as well as the respect due to the students opting to enrol in them. This means that opting for a degree in interior designing should not be considered an inferior choice as compared to pursuing an engineering degree or opting for an MBBS program.

Getting A Clearer Picture

Even though it might not seem so, creative education in India is suffering from a variety of issues that are hindering the growth of the students besides limiting its scope as an employment generator. The limited number of students opting for a higher education course at visual communication colleges in India or any other creative courses for that matter has helped in keeping these problems under wraps. Another, major reason that has been responsible for the masses not being truly aware of these issues is the huge gap in the demand and supply of qualified professionals in these fields. However, just because these issues have not become prominent as yet does not mean that they do not exist at all. Rather it is important to address these issues now, so that the students enrolling for product design courses in India in the near future get to enjoy a great and satisfactory leaning experience.

Identifying The Issues

Discussed below are most common problems that plague the field of creative education and which need to be addressed at the earliest.

Lack Of  Adequate Funding: There is a serious lack of funding in the field of creative education which in turn impacts the quality of education being offered by institutes offering such courses. In fact, the most renowned visual communication colleges in India are privately owned and operated. Unless the government shows a keen interest in enhancing the quality of the institutes operated by it through proper and adequate funding, there is little hope to improve the scope and employability value of the creative courses.

Unavailability Of Good Teachers: Good teachers play an extremely important role in making any educational program truly worthwhile for the students. However, the shortage of such teachers is one major problem faced by even the best institutes offering interior designing courses in Gurgaon. Although, such institutes hire the services of best professional designers to train the students, they might not necessarily prove to be good teachers. The shortage of quality teachers reduces the effectiveness of the course offered by even the best interior design colleges and also impacts the future growth prospects of the students.

Business Through Education:  Even though this problem is prevalent in the entire education system in India, its impact is clearly evident in the field of creative education. With a majority of private institutes having shifted their focus from providing quality education to earning better profits, it is not surprising that the number of colleges offering a degree in interior designing is far less than those offering a higher education course in IT or Business Management. This in turn gives rise to the perception that creative courses do not have much scope when compared to other popular professional education programs.

Complete Absence Of Marketing Strategies: It is actually surprising that even the best interior design colleges across the country do not spend too much money on their own promotion. This can prove to be a really big blunder given the high level of competition within the education sector itself. Students as well as parents need to be made aware of not only the advantages and career prospects of pursuing interior designing courses in Gurgaon but also about the benefits of choosing a specific institute. This includes highlighting the infrastructure facilities, the teaching methodologies and any other value added services that the institutes might be providing to ensure professional success for its students.
