Elle Macpherson was born on March 29, 1964, in Killara, Sydney, Australia. Elle's father has a connection to the sports world because he was the president of a Sydney rugby sports league at one time.

After graduating from Sydney High School, Elle Macpherson wanted to study law at Sydney University. Her parents had divorced by then and in order to pay for law school Elle Macpherson traveled to the United States to do modeling work.

Elle Macpherson was so successful as a model, though, that she never went back to law school. By 1986, Elle Macpherson had already been featured on the covers and in magazines like Time, Cosmopolitan, Elle, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, and Vogue.

In 1986, Elle Macpherson gained great exposure when she was on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover for the first time. Elle was subsequently on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover in 1987, 1988, 1994, and 2006. Her five Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition covers is the current record for a model.

In 1994, Elle Macpherson appeared nude in both the film "Sirens" and in a Playboy photo shoot. Elle did the nude photos in Playboy because the media was trying to find nude photos of her from old boyfriends so Elle had her own nude photos produced by Playboy.

Elle Macpherson also has another connection to the sports world as she is a hockey stepmom to her husband Jeffrey Soffer's son Logan, who plays for Belle Tire in Detroit (youth hockey as Logan is 11).
