Is Your Car Audio Audible?

A perfectionist will never be satisfied with a factory fitted car audio system unless the car itself is top of the range.  In that case it is certain that all accessories will be of the highest quality.

A music system is important to people who travel many miles in their car each year.  The joy of listening to your favourite tracks without distraction from the family is one thing.  Of course, if you travel extensively, the sound system will also keep you awake and focused on the road ahead of you.

If you like to turn the volume up as loud as possible, the base notes especially tend to get distorted if you do not have a top of the range system in your car.  In that case you may have to upgrade your current audio arrangements in order to achieve a purer sound.

The first item that has to be given serious consideration is your budget.  It is always a mistake not to have an absolute maximum amount in mind that you should not exceed. 

This may mean that you will have to forego some of the features that can be included these days. Do not despair, however, they can be gradually added at a later stage.  The more features a system has the more expensive the system will be.

You should write down what duties the audio system absolutely has to perform.  If you are a long distance driver, you may be well served to have a steering control so that you do not have to take your hands off it if you want to change your music.

Your choice of speakers may also be an issue with you.  There are speakers available that produce a particular range of sound, such as the woofers that pick up the bass notes.  Tweeters will only pick up the high notes.  If you should go for these, you need to work out if you have enough room in your car to house them all.

The speakers mentioned above are called component speakers and you should read up on them on-line or in car magazines.

If you find that you do not have the room in your car to accommodate these, then the next best speakers to have are the coaxial ones. These house two or three ranges of notes in one housing and speakers such as these can usually be accommodated in the spaces where the old speakers were.

You will find that there are spaces in the driver’s area and also in the rear of the car.  If you are going to buy on-line, which is normally cheaper, you should make sure that you find a reputable dealer.  Much can be found out about the retailers on line through social media such as Twitter or Facebook.

Buying such expensive equipment on auction sites should be discouraged as you will never know whether the goods will work when you receive them.
