Before coming to any conclusion about including vitamin E in your skincare routine, it is important to understand what it is and how it works. The A to Z about vitamin E is important to understand and we will uncover all its shades in this article.

To begin with, vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin and is a group of compounds. Usually, there are 8 different forms of vitamin E. Out of which, tocopheryl acetate and tocopherol are the common ones (guessing you must have encountered any one of the names before on any of your cream or makeup products).

Benefits of vitamin E:

Let’s talk about some general properties and benefits of vitamin E. It works as an anti-oxidant along with anti-inflammatory properties. It is a great moisturizer because of the moisture and hydration it provides to the skin when applied topically as well as internally. Additionally, it works great as a humectant as well as an emollient, i.e., to absorb water and to trap water in the skin respectively. Also, it protects the skin from UVB rays but cannot be used as a substitute for sunscreen.

As an antioxidant, it protects the skin from free radicals produced by the body’s metabolism. It has great moisturizing and healing properties as it creates a layer of sebum around the skin to trap the moisture in it and provide the necessary hydration. Vitamin E works great for dry skin and dry areas of skin like cuticles and elbows, dry patches of skin, etc. However, for oily skin and acne-prone ones, it is not much beneficial.

Its healing properties can be understood by knowing that it fades the light acne scars when applied regularly. Moreover, it can also show results in preventing scarring after breakouts. Also, it repairs the skin barrier and helps to make your skin more hydrated by locking the skin moisture.

It works great for dry and chapped lips as it is a great addition to the skincare routine for its great moisture-providing properties. It regenerates the cell of the skin and makes the healing process faster.

Sources of vitamin E:

For internal consumption of vitamin E, it is available through food products like:

·         Nuts

·         Sunflower seeds

·         Spinach

·         Broccoli

·         Cereals

·         Juices

·         Kiwi, etc.

It is also available in a supplement form. However, most of the daily-use creams, moisturizers, and makeup products contain Vitamin E as an ingredient. However, for more dry skin, vitamin E capsules for face are also available and work great when applied topically.  It makes the skin hydrated, supple, glowing, and shiny. Moreover, it works best when combined with vitamin C for the hyperpigmentation problem. Vitamin E capsules are the Best Skin Supplements for Glowing Skin.
