Is Robin van Persie on his way to Manchester United?

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie who has only one season left on his contract at Arsenal finally announced his decision not to sign an extension to his contract with Arsenal , as he released a statement on his website on Wednesday afternoon , July 4 confirmed he will not sign a new deal reports talkSPORT.

The Dutchman said on his website "I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.

He added "I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal FC. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch.

According to Mail Online , after Van Persie issued this extraordinary statement , Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson who wants to bring Premier League title back from Roberto Mancini’s City , is preparing first bid using his famed powers of persuasion for the 28 years old Arsenal striker who scored 37 goals in 48 games he played last season with Arsenal , while also Manchester City took the opportunity and made a bid of £20 million for Van Persie according to Telegraph Sport.

On Wednesday night Arsenal have responded to the statement of van Persie on their official website as they asked the player to fulfil his commitments to the club.

They said “We have to respect Robin’s decision not to renew his contract. Robin has one year to run on his current contract and we are confident that he will fulfil his commitments to the Club.

“We are planning with ambition and confidence for next season with Arsenal’s best interests in mind.”
