People looking to loose weight have many methods to go with. Apart from dieting and exercising, liposuction is also a popular weight loss solution that many prefer. This is a procedure also referred to as lipo-plasty that involves the removal of fats from areas on the body surgically.

Such areas include the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, the neck and back of arms

This surgery lasts for approximately 4 hours and can lead to removal of fats that may weigh up to 10 pounds. This procedure is loved by many as it gives instant results. However like every other procedure, liposuction comes with its pros and cons.

Cosmos Clinic Liposuction

Pros

  • The greatest advantage associated to liposuction is the fact that the results are instant. This is not the case with dieting and exercising.
  • Liposuction also tends to come in handy whenever you have a problem with a particular part of your body hence you can target that part. For instance, if your overall weight is okay but you have a bulge on your stomach, you can get this fixed without having to tamper with any other part of your body.
  • If the surgery goes well then you will be up and about just after two to three weeks looking good.
  • You will be avoiding many diseases associated with a lot of fat in the body. Such diseases include obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, incontinence and sleep apnea as well as joint pains. Cardiovascular problems are reduced a great deal. By reduction of fats you are less vulnerable to conditions like heart attacks.
  • You will have your self esteem given a boost as you will be more confident as you will have the body shaped you desire. This way you will face your day to day challenges with more confidence and oomph leading to a successful career.

Cons

There are cons that come with this procedure that it is important to be aware of before it. They include:
  • It is a fact that in order for you to qualify for liposuction you need have failed in loosing weight using other methods. You also need to be excessively overweight, at least 100 pound heavier than you should be at your current age or/and height, for you to qualify for the procedure.
  • As much as you may be up and about 3 weeks after the procedure, there are some effects that may last longer hence you may end up having a long and painful recovery process.
  • You may be left with some scarring after the procedure. These scars may dent your confidence as they usually take long to heal and eventually disappear. Such scars may hinder you from getting back to your normal activities.
  • There are also risks of side effects associated with the procedure. The most common side effect is vomiting all the time after the procedure.
  • Some nutritional deficiencies may occur especially with malabsorptive operations that may lead to conditions like anemia. You may experience abdominal hernia. With the pros and cons of liposuction known to you, it is easier for you to make a well informed decision that you would not regret much later.
