Тips for clean and organised small kitchens

by Lisa Perez Owner
Whether it is small or big, the kitchen needs to be always good cleaned and sanitised. Yet, smaller places may sometimes be tough to keep clean. As people tend to buy a variety of necessary and unnecessary stuff, a small kitchen can be pretty quickly cluttered and this is what every housewife wants to avoid. If you have a small kitchen and think that it can definitely look better, here are several helpful tips.

1. Declutter daily
This is a number one rule for keeping a place clean. If there are any items in your kitchen that you don't use, give them away or present them to somebody, who will appreciate them. In this way, your kitchen will become really spacious and you will be able to buy something that you actually going to use. The same holds true for the food products. Check all expatriation dates and toss out the expired packages. By doing so, you create more space in the cabinets, so no more food products cluttering the countertop.

2. Clean on the go
There is no place for unwashed dishes in a tiny kitchen. Make sure to always wash them right after dinner. Another good idea is to clean everything directly after you have used it. This is how your cooking area will always look good. Plus, when you decide to cook, it won’t be necessary to declutter before that. Thoroughly clean everything that you can on the moment and you will not only keep your kitchen clean but also save time.

3. Every day spend 10 minutes cleaning
There are many domestic chores that you can cover during the long commercial break. Be it polishing the kitchen appliances, wiping the cupboards or degreasing the microwave, every small action contributes to a clean kitchen and gives peace of mind. As they say, by the yard is hard but inch by inch everything is a cinch.

4. Every week spend several hours cleaning
Clear up your schedule and once per week spend several hours covering duties such as hoovering and mopping the floors, wipe the cupboards and cabinets, clean the countertops, remove dust from shelves, wipe the kitchen appliances, etc. Cleaners Highgate advises that you should get rid of any garbage and expired products.

5. Every month spend one day cleaning
This is the time when you will carry out an overall deep kitchen cleaning. That means scrubbing floors, washing the windows, cleaning entirely all kitchen appliances, including the oven and the fridge, etc. Even if it is small, the kitchen is the most frequently used room in every house and needs to be always well-sanitised and organised.

6. Buy only things that you actually need
Stick to this rule and you will always enter into neat and tidy kitchen. Don’t purchase anything only because it is good to have it. If you are not going to use a certain object, there is no place for it in your kitchen. In this way, you will be able to keep the clutter to a minimum.

7. Everything in its rightful place
Every object in your kitchen should have its own place. Make sure that all members of your family are aware of this and always put everything back from where they have taken it. You wouldn't like it if there are any scattered things on the countertop when you come home with several big shopping bags. Plus, when everything in the kitchen has its own place, cooking is a real delight.

With these steps, every small kitchen can be transformed into a cosy and welcoming environment. Implement them into your daily routine and it won’t be necessary to spend plenty of time cleaning this area of your home.
