INTERNET RADIO STATION

by Alisha Khan SEO Executive

Internet radio is the process of transmission of audio digitally through the internet. Since this process is not entirely carried out by a wireless method, it is also known as webcasting. The internet radio offers its listeners with multiple audio tracks that are played one after the other. The listeners cannot replay or go back to a particular track, neither can one download any track from the internet radio. The first internet radio station was launched in the year 1993. Today there are more than 200 internet radio stations running their motor successfully.

The internet radio stations could be accessed from any part of the world with the help of a steady internet connection. A person from India may easily access an Pango Retail internet radio station. This feature of internet radio has further made it more popular among the regular radio listeners. It has also helped these listeners to widen up their spectrum in terms of getting access to several radio stations apart from the local ones. Music lovers can explore through different musical genres of the world through internet radio.

The internet radio not only hosts musical programmes but also news, talk shows and all other programmes which are usually broadcasted in a traditional radio station. It facilitates the mass to know about the happenings of the world while broadcasting news and interviews.

The current situation around the world also demands internet radio instead of the traditional form of radio broadcasting. The benefits of the internet radio station are:

1.    More variety - Internet radio offers a wide range of stations all across the globe to its listeners.

2.    Easy accessibility - Internet radio is the perfect choice when there are fewer signals available. The only thing required for internet radio service is an internet connection.

3.    Fewer advertisement- The number of an advertisement on internet radio stations are much less as compared to traditional radio broadcasting stations.

4.    Antenna not required- Antenna or an ariel device is not required to capture signals for the internet radio station.

However, every form of technology comes with some amount of disadvantages for the users. The internet radio too has got some disadvantages which is difficult to ignore.

1.    Unavailability of internet connection- The only requisite for the internet radio to work is a steady internet connection which is very difficult to achieve at times especially in remote areas.

2.    Very little slot for advertisement- This is a boon for the listeners; however,  it turns out to be a bane for the advertisers. Internet radio could have a big number of listeners but a very small number of advertisers. The advertisers miss on an opportunity of a great reach.

Although on comparing the pros to the cons, it turns out that the pros are more in number than the cons. If not the traditional radio, internet radio could have a bright future ahead in the world. Moreover, the current situation also demands more such internet radio stations to launch.
