Interesting facts about the earrings
Today, earrings are considered as jewelry objects, a wally that every woman has. Earrings are usually made of precious metals, encrusted with gold… But when did the history of earrings start?- No one really knows for sure when exactly the earrings originated. According to most ancient records, there were jewelries found in the tombs of Egyptian Pharaohs. Besides, during the digs of Ancient Babylon, there were also found different objects that were close at resembling earrings. Now it’s useless to argue about these facts, and let us better take a look at the not-so-distant history of these beautiful accessories.

- In the beginning earrings were believed to be worn only be men.

- Now any person can easily buy earrings at MioJewelry, and thankfully there are a lot of specialized jewelry shops with a great choice. However, recently not every person could afford buying earrings. The first known earrings were made of bones and wood, and they were put on the ears without piercing the earlobes, but with the help of wire loops and other accessories. As the years go by, people changed their preferences. There is also a belief, supported by many historians, that the only desire of a human to wear earrings out of metal, but not ivory, has largely influenced the development of craftsmanship, heat of metal in particular.

- In previous centuries earrings had two general meanings, which were altered and updated with time. The first meaning – accessory (used for a decorative purpose), the second meaning was a symbolic one: the symbolic meaning of earrings was different in different nations – in Ancient Rome earrings were worn by slaves (a kind of mark for slaves), whereas in Ancient Greece earing had a reverse meaning, and were worn only by notable people.
- Later earrings were used only for one purpose – decorative. But they wasn’t simply a fancy accessory, but rather a symbol of social and political status, and the costlier the accessory was, the more notable and important was their owner.

- Today we have the opportunity to choose any type of earrings, remembering only one condition: they should suit you. In recent years earrings were paid too much attention to, and that attention was rather excessive. For example, in the 13th century the church prohibited wearing earrings in Europe, stating that putting them on would result in a dramatic change of one’s original body!

- According to statistics, approximately 98% of modern girls pierce their ears to be able to wear earrings! And it’s still hard to believe that in the beginning earrings were allowed to be worn only be men.
