Careful integration of conventional and alternative therapies
The main focus of FWN is to carefully curate a treatment plan which
seamlessly includes both conventional (Western) and alternative
therapies.
The key is to have prescribed medicines and allow them to treat an
individual positively and incorporate holistic methods that catapults the
treatment to have a long-term effect.
For example, for back ache, an orthopaedic would prescribe oral
medications and combine them with a tailored physiotherapy.
In addition, dietary modifications would be recommended that helps in an
early healing process.
This customized system of medication is reciprocated well by patients
who visit our clinic as they get a treatment plan under one umbrella through
our experts.
Why is alternative medicine different from conventional medicine?
The basic difference between alternative medicine and Functional
medicine lies in the approach that each school of thought has towards
individuals.
Functional medicine treats only the physical aspect of an individual but
alternative medicine considers the body, mind, and spirit as one and treatments
are based on that.
One cannot rely completely on alternative medicine to heal themselves
but have a healthy combination of conventional and alternative medicines to see
a positive result.
By a healthy combination of both, which we term as Integrative medicine, one can achieve long term health benefits.
An outline of some of the types of Alternative medicines that can be combined with Conventional or Western medicine.
Reiki
This is a form of alterative healing with origins in Japan that works effectively for may health conditions listed above. A reiki practitioner hovers his or her hands over the individuals body and use crystals to clear blockages in the energy body. The individual sometimes feels sensations of heat, tingling or a sense of deep sleep/ relaxation during the process.
Acupressure and Acupuncture
Acupressure and Acupuncture belong to Traditional Chinese medicine and focus on the Qi energy in the body that flows through about 2000 acupuncture points and meridians. Acupressure involves massaging the acupressure points and is non-invasive. Acupuncture involves insertion of hair-like needles in acupuncture points along the meridians to stimulate them.
Yoga, tai chi, and qi gong
Yoga is not just sweating through physical exercise, but it is a combination of postures, breathing and control of postures with gradual relaxation of the mind. It has its roots in India but has been widely accepted by western countries paving way for many o the spiritual path.
Tai Chi
Tai chi has its origin in China and consists of steady bodily movements that are smooth and the transition from one posture to another is seamless and is rightfully designated as “meditation in motion”.
Qi gong
Qi gong is a Traditional Chinese regime that focuses on optimizing energy in the body through exercises. It focuses on the energy within the body, mind and spirit and helps an individual to improve health and well-being.
Pranayama
Pranayama owes its origin to India and descends from Yogic practices that involves controlling the breath through different styles. The word Prana in Sanskrit means life force similar to that of Qi in Chinese tradition. Though there are many types of Pranayama curated to heal different physical and mental health conditions, the underlying principle remains the same. A pranayama cycle consists of three stages, inhalation, retention, and exhalation.

Complementary medicine (CM), complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), integrated medicine or integrative medicine (IM), and holistic medicine are among many rebrandings of the same phenomenon. ===> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminology_of_alternative_medicine Jan 28th 2023 01:38 |
