Installation guide for Parallels Plesk Control Panel on Windows

Plesk for Windows is available through the SetupPlesk. Exe installer, which will download and install all the required prerequisites and Plesk aspects based on the choice of installation. One can install Parallels Plesk in two ways:

  1. Installing Plesk for Windows using GUI ( Graphical user Interface)

  2. Installing Plesk for Windows using CLI (Command Line Interface) this installation method is referred as installation done using Command line Interface.

Following are the brief methods of installing Plesk on Windows using GUI:

  • Log in to the system as Administrator or other uses with privileges as Administrator.

  • Download the Plesk installation package from the Parallels Web site (http://www.parallels.com)

  • Then run this downloaded installer by running the SetupPlesk.exe file.

  • This installer will do through check on the system for the required components and see whether the system is ready for the installation or not.

  • If some of the components are missing then the installer will run Plesk for Windows Prerequisites Wizard to install the missing aspects

  • After the installation of the missing aspects is complete, Plesk installer will display a welcome message. Click Next> to proceed.

  • Then one has to go through the license agreement and then select the “I accept” the license agreement option and if one is adhering to all the conditions mentioned in the license agreement then Click Next to proceed further.

  • Select the installation path and its applications for destination folder, application data folder and virtual host destination folder. Then Click Next to proceed further.

  • Lastly select the required installation procedure viz. Typical that installs all the components except few like Documentation on PDF format, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express edition, Kaspersky Antivirus, Tomcat and Java 2 SDK and Python Script engine.  Complete will install all available Plesk components and Custom will allow to select Plesk components that one wishes to install.

Methods for installing Plesk for Windows using CLI:

  • Open the command prompt ( Start >Run> cmd.exe) and run the following command that supply installation options in the place of =

  • Each Plesk component has its own unique identifier (ID) which is used when one selects the components that is to be installed.

However installation of Plesk for Windows using CLI is recommended for advanced users.
