Instagram Announces IGTV app for Creators to Upload 60 Minutes Video

Instagram just revealed a new way to help it compete with the likes of YouTube and Snapchat app.

Instagram is now ready to strive head-on with YouTube. On Wednesday, at the flashy event in San Francisco, the company announced it will be rolling out feature app within the instagram which is allowing users to upload videos up to one hour in length, up from the previous one-minute limit.

Instagram revealed IGTV, a new feature app of Instagram for publishing long-form videos on Instagram. The app will allow creators to produce 4K vertical videos that are longer than the current video uploading limit of 60 seconds.

It will be a standalone IGTV app, as well as an IGTV experience built into the main Instagram app.

The app is aimed at what Instagram calls "creators," but anyone can create and share their videos.

IGTV is different in a many ways. First, it is built for how you really use your mobile phone, so the videos are full screen and vertical. Also, unlike on Instagram, videos aren’t limited to just 60 seconds. Instead, each video can be up to an hour long.

IGTV will let anyone be a creator, not just celebrities. People will be able to upload vertical videos through Instagram’s app or the web. Everyone on instagram will be able to upload hour-long videos immediately, with that option expanding to everyone eventually. Yes, there's a stand-alone app, but you can get all the features by clicking an IGTV icon appear upper right side of on Instagram app.
