Henry David Thoreau once said," The world is nothing but a canvas to our imagination." Today, hundreds of techniques have been developed as ways of creating artwork. However, Thoreau's quote remains true and is one both artists and art collectors can relate to.

Etching is one technique that I find very unique and equally impressive in its style. It has an inspiring appeal, through its creativity and the level of skill required for this technique. One person, among many, who has made many memorable pieces of artwork, through etching,  is none other than Edward Borein. His main focus has been on creating artwork related to Western America such as, MexicanVaquero, MissionSantaBarbara#2, Navajos and An Old Time Christmas. All of these pieces were created using an etching technique and it should be noted how Mr. Borein has mastered this difficult skill.  Edward Borein is very popular among many art collectors for his eye catching, unique and praiseworthy work.

MexicanVaquero is an etching of a Mexican cowboy perched on a horse. Borein has included intricate details, to this piece, creating a rugged appearance to the cowboy and an overall dramatic and realistic feel to the artwork. There is no background to the piece, but Borein has cleverly used a simple shadow, in order to create some depth.

Another impressive etched piece, by Borein, is the MissionSantaBarbara#2, which depicts several cowboys on horses, with a Santa Barbara mission in the background. Borein was a cowboy himself and often used his own experiences as inspiration for his artwork. He liked to recreate western life and the life of a cowboy in his artwork. This aspect of his work is not surprising as Edward Borein was popular for showing the West and its people in as realistic a way as possible. He payed particular attention to the details of the environment. In MissionSantaBarbara, Borein has successfully created a feel for what life was like back then. This piece is a favourite among artwork collectors all around the world.

Navajos is another etched artwork piece by Borein. It shows group of tribe members from the Navajos tribe on their horsebacks. Here Borein has captured the primative life of the Navajo Indians and the baron landscape on which they existed. The exquisite details that Borein has included, clearly depict the clothing, head dress and even facial features, of the Navajo tribe members

Edward Borein's ability to create captivating depictions of the west, it people and the environment, is second to none. His artworks represent western life in immense detail. They not only capture what life looked like back then, but the emotion of that era as well.
