Indian Stars are Shining at Asian Games

in Jakarta. Starting from the winning fences, the enchanting Indian
shutters shine on the fields of badminton at the 18th Asian Games as Saina and
Sindhu won their quarter-finals clashes to enter in the Women’s singles
semi-finals for India at Asian Games. However at the
semi-final, Saina lost the match against Tai Tzu-Ying and settled for Bronze at
the 2018 Asian Games.
While in the round of eight, The 28-year-old Saina Nehwal beat
the 23-year-old Ratchanok Intanon in straight games 21-18, 21-16 to enter in
the round of four at the Asiad Games.
On the other hand, PV Sindhu saw a hard challenge against Thai
professional badminton singles player Nitchaon Jindapol but managed to beat her
opponent Jindapol 21-11, 16-21, 21-14. In the round of four, the Indian star
beat Akane Yamaguchi form Japan 21-17, 15-21, 21-10 at the 2018 Asian
Games.
In Hockey, India outplayed South Korea 5-3 in the quarter-finals
at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta. It was a tough battle in the second half
when Koreans started playing aggressively against the Blues. This is the first
time at 2018 Asiad Games that India conceded a goal from their
opponents and also managed to par 50 goals in the competition so far. Rupinder
Pal Singh shines again from India after producing a spectacular performance
from offense to defense for India at Asian Games.
In the lesser-known world of Equestrian, India clinched two
silver medals, one in individual and another in a team event at the Asiad
Games. Fouaad Mirza of India added another medal to India’s medal tally by
winning a historic Silver Medal in Equestrian. Mirza scored 26.40 points behind
Japanese gold medalist Yoshiaki Oiwa, who scored 22.70. Additionally, India
also won a silver in the team event in the same competition with a combined
score of 121.30. The team comprised Mirza, Jitender Singh, Akash Malik and
Rakesh Kumar for India at Asian Games.
In the competition so far, Archery hasn’t produced as expected
at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, however, today the brilliant
performance by women’s in compound event helped India to raise another medal in
their fast-growing tally as they have paved their way to the semi-finals and
confirmed a medal for India at the Asiad Games. On the other hand,
Indian men’s compound team beat Chinese Taipei 231-227 in the semi-finals and
open their way to the ultimate finale at 2018 Asian Games.
From the world of arrows to the mother of sports, India’s star
sprinter Hima Das won the silver medal after clocking 50.79 behind Bahrain's
Salwa Naser who clocked 50.09 at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, in the same division, India’s Mohammed Anas Yahiya bagged a silver
medal behind Qatar’s Abdallah Hassan who clinched the gold medal for India
at Asian Games.
Last but not the least let’s talk about Bridge where the Indian
power miners won two bronze medals in Mix team and Men’s team clashes at
2018 Asian Games. It is a perfect start in order to enrol the
vessel of glory as far as this debutant sport is concerned.
All in all, it was a fantastic day for India as Shutters,
Sprinters and Archers lived well to the expectations and also, in games like
Equestrian at Asiad Games, Bridge where India started a stardom to
follow.
Indeed, the athletes from India are doing too well at the
moment. 10 to 20 years ago, winning these many matches used to sound like fantasy.
However, the picture is completely different now. The 18th Asian Games
in Jakarta has shown the present and future of India in the
brick-and-mortar world of sports. On the surface of hockey,
India are performing well and making the future better for the coming
generation.
The Asiad Games is going for India’s fellow
nation Nepal and Afganistan also. It is huge news of the holistic development
of sports in Asia.
