Malaria is potentially a life-threatening disease caused by parasites that are transmitted through the bite of infected Anopheles Mosquitoes. India has the highest malaria burden in the world outside sub-Saharan Africa.

According to a new World Malaria Report, India reports malaria surveillance mechanism detection for mere 8 percent of cases, which are among the lowest in the world.  While “Among 55 countries where the burden of malaria was estimated from either adjustment of routine data or the transformation of prevalence to incidence “.

How does Malaria get transmitted?

Malaria is transmitted by the infective bite of Anopheles mosquito. The disease carries an incubation period of 10-15 days which means a person may develop the symptoms after a fortnight of being bitten by an infected mosquito. Though the infection transmitted by P Falciparum parasite is believed to be the deadliest one.

What causes Malaria?

Apart from the Parasite bite, there are other ways through which malaria can be caused or transmitted. An infected mother can pass on the disease to her kid while giving birth, this is known as congenital malaria. The disease can be transmitted through blood, another set of causes are-

· An organ transplant

· A transfusion

· Use of shared needles or syringes

· A headache

· Nausea

· Vomiting

· Abdominal pain

· Diarrhea

· Anemia

· Muscle pain

· Bloody stools

Diagnosing Malaria

A medical practitioner can diagnose Malaria with a physical examination, patient history, symptoms and blood tests following the same. The doctor will determine if the patient is having enlarged spleen or liver. Order a mosquito net from an online pharmacy for being keeping your family protected from mosquitoes.

The blood tests will examine the following-

· If the patient has malaria

· The kind of malaria he is having

· If the infection is caused by a parasite that’s resistant to a community of drugs

· If the disease has caused anemia

· If the disease has affected your vital organs

Long-term issues post Malaria

Though Malaria once treated, do not affects long term but certain types of Cerebral Malaria can cause swelling in the blood vessels of the brain, resulting in brain damage. Another set of complication can be through drug-resistant parasites which may also be poor! Malaria can reoccur with similar complications.

Treating Malaria

A medical practitioner will firstly provide medications (post detection) based on the parasite you are infected with. In case of the drug-resistant parasite, the doctor may need to use more than one medication or change the entire course to treat the condition. In rare cases, some parasites even live in your body staying dormant and reactivate at a later stage causing a relapse of the infection. If a case like this is detected, a counter medication will be provided to prevent a relapse in future. Missing even a single dosage can be a breach, of course, order medicine online and stock well!

Know the causes, try on prevention and stay healthy!
