Are you facing problems in conceiving or getting pregnant? Then you might be facing the problem of infertility. Though the problem seems to be very problematic, but with the help of new technology in the field of medical, everything has become possible and in this condition, In vitro fertilization (IVF) can be the right solution for you. There are many people who have gone through this process found pregnancy to be success after they have tried IVF. The process is very simple as the treatment follows four primary steps during the in vitro fertilization process. Let us study about these steps.

Ovulation Induction

It is one of the steps during IVF treatment and before the in vitro fertilization process; it is the work of the fertility specialist to monitor your ovaries. They would also study the timing of the egg release and the specialists would ensure that your ovaries are producing eggs, and even your hormone levels are normal. Having healthy eggs available for IVF would enhance the chances of getting pregnant.

Egg Retrieval

It is the second step and during this step, pain medication is given to the patient in order to reduce any discomfort. A very thin needle is passed through the upper vaginal wall and then using vaginal ultrasound, fluid is safely removed from the follicles by gentle suction. Immediately after this the oocyte (egg) is isolated from the follicular fluid and the egg is placed in a culture dish, which is further transferred to the incubator.

Fertilization

The third step of the IVF process is fertilization of the egg. During this process, a sperm sample is secured and that can be either of your partner or from the donor. Followed by this the most active sperm is mixed with the egg or in some cases the sperm is directly injected into the egg. Finally, the sperm and egg are placed together in an incubator and monitored to ensure that a healthy embryo develops.

Embryo transfer and Implantation

The IVF treatment comes with the final step and that is embryo transfer. In this process the embryos are examined and are picked for transfer. In order to transfer the embryo(s), a speculum is placed into your vagina and the embryo(s) are transferred through a small plastic tube. After the IVF process is complete, the patient is asked to go for bed rest and that is advised for around 24 hours.
