Improve Your Web Form And Registration Page

by Elena Randall Content Creator
It can be difficult to persuade your website visitors to subscribe to a new service or even a newsletter. A lot depends on the proposal you make to your visitors and the benefits you offer them. That is, it depends on the value associated with the service you offer. But, of course, web design is also a factor that is important to the user.

To start your site, you must have flashy graphics and good advertising text that demonstrates the personality of your brand, however, other factors must be taken into account in the design. In this article, we share some of the secrets that web and top software companies use when creating a great registration page.

Customize the fields of your web form

The fields for your web form do not necessarily have to be generic. Concerning the data, you are likely to use the usual ones as name and email address. What makes your form different is the design and that is why you should not fear to be creative and even designing fields that, perhaps, in the first place, you would not have considered. The point of this is that, although your first idea may not be feasible, it can be transformed or combined with others to reach the final concept.

Another point to take into account is the design of the website in general. The form is part of your website and therefore has to be consistent with the style of the entire website. Keep this in mind when choosing colors and typography.

Remember that "creativity" does not only refer to what is colorful and out of the norm. Sometimes, creativity is found in the smallest details. If your design is minimalist and is consistent with that of your website, then it is ideal for your website. Creativity in the field of design has to do, more than anything, with finding solutions.

Offer help to your visitors if necessary

Much of the registration pages share the same fields as username, email address or Facebook account, date of birth, etc. Since the form data is the same, the user has become accustomed to the registration process.

However, if you consider that the process to complete the form is more detailed, then it is advisable to offer annotations as a kind of guide for the user to complete the process successfully.

Remember that the annotations can be included in a bubble, always be visible under the field to be filled in or appear only when necessary, such as by clicking on a button next to each field.

Do not forget the user experience

The user experience is also an important topic to consider on the registration pages. The objective is to simplify the process as much as possible (in terms of data and the number of steps required). To simplify your form, it is necessary to go through phases, you can do it easily in a notebook. First, you must write down the data that you consider are necessary for the registration process and the steps to be able to register. Once you have these two points, you can continue with the simplify processes phase. It sounds simple, but the process may take longer than you think. However, you should keep in mind that a simple process attracts your users.

If the process is more extensive than usual, divide it into steps. Make sure you don't include as many steps as the user could leave it halfway. If you realize that the steps for registration are too many, try to simplify the process and at least leave it until half of the steps you had in principle.

Do not forget to include options. Some users sign up with their email account, however, there are more and more people who subscribe with their Twitter or Facebook account. You cannot know the preferences of your users, so it is best to offer options.

Consider including simple animations

Interactivity is one of the main points when talking about website and app designed by top software companies. Thanks to the interactivity, the user has a way of knowing certain things, for example, if a progress bar is displayed on the screen, it is because the page is loading. These types of details are important as they inform the user.

On a registration page, an example of interactivity would be to inform that the capital letters are activated or when the password confirmation does not match. However, interactivity can also be achieved by including animations. It is not common, but it is possible.

When we talk about animation it doesn't have to be complicated, it can be simple, but to give that dynamic content feeling. Something simple could be, for example, placing the form in a modal window, instead of loading a new page. It is not common, but it is possible and does not affect the user experience. In these cases, it is important that the objective is the surprise factor: think about what is not common in registration forms, analyze why it is, find the advantages and disadvantages and only if you see a real possibility, think about how to implement it in your form.

Avoid including animations simply for look good. Even animations must have a purpose within the design. Remember to contact web and top software companies for your website and app development projects.
