When candidates go to your website and apply in your organisation; they are not only applying for the jobs, they are making a mental perceptions of your company. There are many factors where your potential employees make up their minds that your company is  good or bad or the best. Apart from your company reputation and the packages that you’re offering, there’s an important factor that many organisation miss to notice - ATS (Applicant Tracking System)

According to a survey it was found that when a job seeker applies to your company, your job portal is an integral part to create a good first impression. If the candidate will face challenges, just in filling the application, he will create a “not so good” perception in his mind about your company, and that will last long!

You should focus on these key points while you’re choosing or designing your Applicant Tracking System (ATS):

  1. Unclear job instructions will cause a bad candidate experience, and it hurts your company image more than you know. So try to make the instructions clear throughout the whole process.

  2. Try to avoid tediously long application forms. That causes an unpleasant candidate experience!

  3. If important recruitment information (salary packages, bond agreement information etc.) are missing, then it’s not a good sign!

A good Applicant Tracking System will bring:

  1. Even though the candidates who are not hired, but who are treated really well, will come and apply again.

  2. A good ATS will spread good reviews of your portal, and that eventually is a good reputation building for your company.

  3. A well designed ATS will give you better results for your job openings.

It’s not just about improving your applicant’s experience, it is also about your HR staff. A well designed ATS can give a breath of relief to your recruitment department. With the filtered results in ATS, your HR department can find the right people for the relevant positions for your company. Instead of filtering each and every application manually, your staff can invest the valuable time in a more productive activity. Generally HR department use HRM software along with ATS to simplify process of recruitment.

To Sum up, whether you’re a giant organization or a growing company, you need a good ATS. If you’re a giant organization and you’re carrying an odd ATS, that is a hitch that you can’t afford. If you’re a growing organization, a well designed ATS will spread a good word in the industry; that will eventually make your company look good!
