by Hunny Jaswal Techical Writer

While there is a rush which comes with riding two-wheelers, it also causes the most number of accidents. In fact, India records 17 death every hour due to two-wheeler accidents which is one of the highest in the world. Here are thus some bike safety tips which if followed can save not your life but those of your loved ones too -

Wearing a Helmet

While it has been mandatory for both the riders of a bike to wear a helmet, many still do not put on a helmet. This is highly dangerous as helmets have been known to save many lives. So, not only should you wear a helmet but also ensure that it is strapped securely and fits snugly.

Following Traffic Signals

A number of two-wheeler accidents are caused because of not following traffic signals. When on the road, it is thus important to not only to follow traffic rules and signals but to remain attentive of the movement of other vehicles, especially when braking or accelerating.

Making yourself Visible

No matter how big your motorcycle is, it is still one of the smallest vehicles on the road. To prevent accidents, it is best to make yourself as visible as possible. This can be done by wearing bright colored clothes or helmets and using bright colored reflective headbands. Another good practice is to keep your headlight switched on during dawn and dusk times.

While there is no alternative to being cautious and following traffic rules, it is also advised to get a two-wheeler insurance which is offered by many lenders, such as NBFCs (Non-Banking Financial Institutions). They cover any damage or loss caused by accidents, fire, theft, or natural disasters. The entire process is online and you also stand to receive no claim bonus as well.

So follow traffic rules, remain careful while driving on road and opt for a two-wheeler insurance for that extra dose of safety.
