To understand the importance of reverse osmosis (RO) systems, first you need to know what is an RO system. It is a water filtration system, which is used to remove all the ions and molecules from the water so that only the purest form of water passes through it. There are a lot of places in Canada that lack water treatment facilities; so in such cases, drinking tap water is not safe at all. That is why, Health Canada* suggest that everyone should use RO systems for purifying water. And, here comes the role of a reliable RO system in the play.

How does it work: RO water filtration system uses pressure to force tap water through a specially designed membrane. The job of an RO water filter system is to only allow pure water to pass through the system and the contaminants which are not able to pass through the membrane are drained away. 

Reverse Osmosis is one the best methods to purify polluted water and make it safe to drink. Also, it is the most efficient and easy way to do it. Some of the major advantages of using an RO system are as follows: 

Bacteria, metal, viruses, salts, etc. can be easily removed by the RO process
It can also eliminate the traces of chlorine from tap water
It also improves the taste of tap water by removing the excess salts like sodium and potassium from it. 

Apart from these above mentioned advantages, another great advantage of RO system is that it is an automatic machine which requires very less energy and low maintenance. Owing to these great advantages, these systems have gained a lot of appreciation in the market of Canada. 

Overall, reverse osmosis system in Canada is an excellent water purification system that makes even salt water potable. However, the only drawback is that very less drinking water is produced. For example, if the input is about 3-10 gallons of polluted water, then about 1 gallon of purified drinking water is obtained. When all's said and done, with the advantages outweighing the disadvantages in the long run, it is a wise decision to have this system at home, as it would surely assure you toxin and chemical free water to drink!
