Fact: Ensure that the faculty available with institute has the sense of GATE or at-least have cracked GATE because if one has never appeared or topped in GATE then how can the teacher help the student who is aiming for a 99th percentile. The joy of learning from a faculty who has cracked GATE and studied at the top institutes of the country will inspire you to do more and achieve more.

• How many students will be there in a batch?  What does an Institute provide in the course?

Assumption: Batch size of more than 80-90 students and timings of twice a week is preferred so that the syllabus will end soon.

 

 

Fact: If the batch size of 80-90 students it will create a perfect blend of chaos where it is impossible to give attention on the students - Prefer those coaching classes which has limited batch size and where in complete assistance from the faculty is given.

• What is the duration of the course?

Assumption: Course timed twice a week are better so that syllabus is covered faster and we can finish our preparation in the next 3-4 months.

Fact: The course timed twice a week will end the syllabus in June/July – But GATE exam is in February 2013. Prefer a course which fetches you a year-long coaching with complete support to prepare effectively till the date of GATE exam.

• Beyond the classroom, what does an Institute provide in the course?

Assumption: Study material given by institute are enough for cracking GATE. 4 mocks is more than enough. I don't need any video lectures. Classroom learning is more than enough.

Fact: Inquire that the study material available are prepared by whom and are they reviewed for this year? Will only 4 mock tests will help you to prepare effectively?
