The crossover vehicles are having much popularity in the Indian automobile market. To make this bestselling Hyundai vehicle the Elite i20 more competitive the HMIL has introduced a crossover based on it. The total sale of the i20 range has risen considerably after the launching of the Hyundai i20 Active in March 2015.

Variants and prices

The i20 Active comes in 3 petrol and 4 diesel variants with a price tag of Rupees 6.47 to 9.17 lakh. The petrol trims are the base, the S and the SX. The diesel trims are the base, the S, the SX and the SX (O). All the variants have 5 gear manual transmissions only.

SUV like body

The i20 Active has beefier body with an SUV touch having skid plates, roof rails, a rear roof spoiler, large wheels and mat grey cladding all around the base of the car. Other body features include, projector type head lamps, daytime running lamps, round fog lamps, double tone bumper and round reflectors at the rear.

Spacious cabins

The spacious cabin of the Active has blue-black dual tone for the light body colours and all black themes for the dark shades. The leg space at the front is comfortable, while the rear seats are bit cramped. The standard comfort features include a manual AC, power windows, fabric seats, full folding rear seats, internally operated ORVMs and a 2 Din music system. The top variants have an automatic AC, a keyless start, rear parking sensors with camera, electric body coloured ORVMs with turn indicators, leather wrapped steering wheel and touch screen controls with Bluetooth connectivity additionally.

Safety features

The standard features of the Active include an engine immobiliser and central and child lock facilities. Top variants have 2 air bags, ABS and tilt and telescopic steering column. The impact sensing door lock will unlock automatically in case of an impact facilitating the exit of the passengers. A smart pedal system operates only the brake pedal in case of simultaneous operation of the brake and accelerator pedals.

Engines and mileages

The 1197 cc, 82 bhp and 115 NM torque petrol engines give mileages of 17.19 kmpl. The 1396 cc, 89 bhp and 220 Nm torque diesel engines give mileages of 21.19 kmpl.
