Hyderabad Consumer Court Case: Consumer Complaint Resolved
by Kanika Goyal Online Consumer ForumThe Hyderabad District Consumer Forum directed the State Bank of India to refund the original documents, deposited by the borrower even after the borrower returned the entire loan amount, and also pay Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the subscriber.
Complainant T Balwant Reddy contacted State Bank of India for Rs4.5 Loan. In 2007, Reddy loan approved by the bank and they deposited Sales deed, a title deed, and passbook in the bank. He said he repaid the amount of debt and closed the loan account in 2011.
Mr. Reddy filed a consumer complaint in Hyderabad Consumer Court and submitted that the value of his property in the market is over Rs 1.5 crore, he had also received a very good offer but he could not sell it due to lack of documents.
On the other hand, the representatives of the bank admitted that they are searching for the missing original documents in the bank branch and they have been asked to write to the revenue officers for a copy of the documents and as soon when we get the documents they will give.
During the hearing, the forum said, "The bank officials have not yet been able to locate the original documents. This is a completely clear case where no further discussion is required."
The forum directed SBI arrange or provide the documents of consumer and pay Rs.5Lakh as compensation for mental agony or losses and Rs.5000 for legal cost.
