While stirring the sand storm on the east coast, here is a break in the storm and its consequences:Pressure: the pressure of the storm is falling, which means getting stronger. According to CBS News hurricane consultant David Bernard, the pressure is now on 943 millibars, breaking the record for lowest pressure observed north of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina record previously held by The Long Island Express, a massive hurricane struck New York in 1938.
Although Sandy is technically a Category 1 storm, the current levels of pressure are what you usually see in a category 3 or 4. But because of the storm of the energy is distributed over a large area, the wind did not reach the level of a major hurricane.
