Hue Festival 2016 will open in May

Blending old and new, picturesque Hue imperial city owes its charm partly to its location on the Perfume River. Hue Festival 2016 will take place from April 29th to May 4th 2016 in Hue City and some localities in Thua Thien Hue Province.

Various large-scale programs with unique domestic and international art troupes will be held during the framework of Hue Festival 2016. From May 4 – 5, an international hot air balloon performance will take place with the participation of pilots and balloonists from Thailand, the Netherlands, Malaysia, etc. A Hanoi photo exhibition of Hanoi and Hue has run from April 14th to 24^th, which is the works of Sebastien Laval, a photographer from France. Best known for elegant royal cuisine, the Hue International Food Festival will be organized in Hue city’s Phu Xuan Park from April 28-May 2.

It is also Vietnam’s tallest pagoda, which towers on the riverbank and dates back to 1601. Scattering along the Perfume River, outstanding Royal Tombs such as T u Duc tomb, Khai Dinh tomb, Minh Mang tomb, etc feature beautiful works of royal architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty. Hue is also famous for “non la” or conical hats and its ritual royal music. Its rich cuisine has the most striking differences in the prominence of vegetarianism in the city.
