Hearing loss is not an uncommon condition. Hearing loss can be both complete or partial. Hearing loss can be caused throughout life, or you can be born with it. It is not possible to cure deafness, although hearing Loss can often be prevented to some degree. In many people, hearing loss is caused as a result of an infection that could have been treated before it caused real permanent damage. However, we are often too slow with going to a doctor, which means infections are left to cause permanent damage to our inner ear. Many of these illnesses are childhood illnesses as well. Some of these include scarlet fever, tonsillitis, head colds, mumps, measles, and meningitis. There are various other factors that are known to potentially cause hearing loss too. One thing that is known to cause hearing loss in many people is long term exposure to various loud noises. What many people don’t know is that yoga can actually be very beneficial in reducing the severity of hearing loss.

Very few people truly understand the holistic benefits of yoga. The belief within yoga is that if we take care of our body, it will take care of us in return. Obviously, the ear, albeit small, is an integral part of our body, which therefore deserves attention. A number of different yoga moves, breathing techniques, and other systems can help to repair the ear. It may be good to know what caused the damage in the first place in order to choose the most appropriate moves. There is one particular yoga technique, however, that will always benefit your ears.

You may want to look into the ear wash. In order to perform this move, you must first clean and trim your nails. All you need to do is insert your index finger into your ear when you take your daily bath. Rotate it clockwise ten times and repeat in an anticlockwise direction 10 times. Make sure you perform this twice a day. The move firstly helps to clean out your ear passages. The second benefit is that it will stimulate the nerves inside your ear, thereby improving hearing. Another technique is even easier and is known as the Shunya Mudra. In the Shunya Mudra, you bend the middle finger until it touches the thumb. The other fingers need to remain extended. Press your thumb into the finger and release it. Repeat for 15 minutes, three times a day. Keep in mind, as well, that yoga is all about breathing. When you breathe in, you use your nose and then exhale through your mouth very slowly.
