Is your previous employer delaying your many requests for their signature so that you can claim the amount in your EPF (Employee’s Provident Fund) Account?

Well, you need not worry about that anymore, as the EPFO has made it super simple for you to claim your PF amount through their website. Note that you can only withdraw from PF if you’ve been unemployed for 2 months and don’t really plan to get back to formal employment for any reason.

You do not need your previous employer’s signature / etc. to claim your PF amount.

There are 3 new forms for EPF withdrawal – Form 19 UAN (for EPF), Form 10C UAN (for EPS), and Form 31 UAN (for advances or withdrawal).

UAN is your Universal Account Number.

In order to get the process of withdrawing from your EPF account (without any requirement of consent or signatures, etc. from your previous employer) make sure that you meet the following criteria:

  • You must have an active UAN (Universal Account Number).

  • You must have an Aadhaar Card, which is linked to your UAN. You can do this online.

  • Your (current) employer must digitally sign your KYC documents.

  • Your bank account must be linked with your UAN.

  • You must have at least 2 consecutive completed months of service.
