Here’s a dentist joke:

"Patient: Doctor, I have yellow teeth, what do I do?

Dentist: Wear a brown tie. "

A funny one, yes. But you're not gonna be laughing if your dentist does not really know how to remedy your yellowing teeth, that you might as well wear a brown tie to hide it. Before your natural teeth rot and need a dental implant in Melbourne, there are DIY teeth whitening procedures that could save your yellowing teeth from rotting.

Charcoal

Sounds strange, doesn't it? Use a black substance to whiten something. Don’t worry, they won’t stain your teeth. Activated charcoals are highly absorbent substance that remove toxins. In fact, charcoals are even used in hospitals to treat food poisoning. Because of its efficiency in binding toxins, charcoal is capable of removing the toxins and stains out of your mouth, leaving the teeth clean and in lighter shade.

Baking soda

One of the most underrated household product is baking soda. Though it is famous for DIY-ers, baking soda can do more than just cleaning carpets and eliminating smells. Baking soda can be used as alternative for toothpaste. It would help clean your teeth and remove stains, but brushing your teeth with baking soda alone is not advisable as it lacks fluoride that helps fight tooth decay.

Apple cider

Just like baking soda, apple cider is also popular for DIY-ers as cleaning agent. Another similarity between these two is they both could work as mouth, teeth, and gum cleaner. And more importantly, both must be used in moderation and should not replace your toothpaste and other genuine dental products.

Food

You’ll be surprised at how many foods that whiten teeth there are. The list is quite long, but basically they are composed of foodstuff that are healthy, crunchy, and contain enzymes that fight bacteria and prevent mouth plaque.

Products

Your dentist knows what’s best for your teeth. You can always ask him for the best whitening toothpaste, strip, gels, and spray products that are available over the counter, or in his very own dental clinic.

Hygiene

The most important thing to take note of to prevent your teeth from further staining is your dental habit. How often do you brush and floss? Do you use straw for your caffeine intake? Are you a heavy smoker? Following all those teeth-whitening tips and remedies would be futile if you don’t take care of your dental and oral hygiene in the first place.
