How To Transfer Files Between Macs With Migration Assistant?

There are a few people who face problems while transferring every data from their old Mac device to their new Mac device using the Migration Assistant Application. It’s an inbuilt application which is available to you with the Mac device itself.

Here’s how to move data from old Mac to the new Mac using Migration Assistant

Things to remember before transferring the data:

The first step should be of updating the Software on both the Macs (old and the new one).
The moving of data from one device to another shall take some hours, so I suggest you plug both the devices to AC power to be at the safe side.
If your Mac device doesn’t have a name, then give it one.

The new Mac

Firstly, go to Migration Assistant by starting Finder pane.
Then, press on Applications.
After that, write ‘Migration Assistant’ in the search area.
Note that the Migration Assistant shall get opened.
Next, press Continue.
Then, put the administrator password in asked for it.
Look that on the next pane, the application shall ask you that ‘How do you want to transfer your information?’.
After that, click on ‘From a Mac, Time Machine backup, or startup disk’.
Lastly, press Continue.

Go to the old Mac

Firstly, go to the Migration Assistant.
Next, press Continue.
You require to put a tick mark on ‘To another Mac’ which shall be the answer of ‘How do you want to transfer your information?’.
Then, press on Continue.

The new Mac

Note that the new Mac shall be looking for sources. Select the old PC name and press continue for giving confirmation.
Mark that the security code shall get displayed.

Go to the old Mac

Look for the security code on the old PC is the same as the code that you have viewed on the new Mac.
If you have the full surety of it, then confirm it by pressing the Continue option.

The new Mac

Choose data that you want from your old Mac to get transferred.
Note that a higher amount of information will be more time taking for completing this process. It may take a lot of time, so I suggest you for doing this work on Sundays or on the day when you do not have any work on your Mac.
