How to talk to your kids about family addiction

by Pushpender Kumar Rehab Counselor

Growing up in a family where a member is addicted to drugs or , can be chaotic and scary to a child. Witnessing the fights and the tears between the parents and the displaced anger they are inflicted upon many times makes them believe that they are responsible for the drinking or using of their addicted parent. Parents with substance abuse disorders may expose their children to a variety of negative consequences in the home.

We at Anatta Rehabilitation in Delhi, provide this facility to all children of our clients and have seen them blossom with self-love and care.

In families where substance abuse is occurring, another parent or family member may need to explain to the children why their parent is going to treatment, unable to be around, or is acting in an unusual way.
