There are several foreign objects that can make your outside playground surfaces feel unpleasant. Such things like dirt, sand, stones, chewing gums, tar, and bird’s droppings can make playground surface maintenance a bit tedious. Maintaining outdoor playground surfaces is not as difficult as many people think. With an everyday schedule, one is able to make it easier and interesting. The most important thing to do is to keep loose debris at bay. The loose debris can cause drainage blockages which in turn can turn to a health hazard.

So how do you care for your outdoor playground surfaces?

a. Do an inspection on a daily basis- in order to ensure that the playground is free from harmful projects like glasses, stones and so on, it is good to do an inspection every day. These are playgrounds for children so even the kids themselves can come in with such harmful thing.

b. Vacuum porous places – debris like sand if left unattended can clog drainage systems. The best thing to deal with them is to vacuum and remove the top liter. This can be done continuously maybe an everyday activity to ensure that the outdoor playground surfaces are always clean.

c. Scrubbing – you can also opt to scrub to remove the loose debris. Scrubbing is a thorough way of removing debris for some time. It can be done maybe once per week to avoid overdoing it. This can give a clean and clear playground safe for children.

d. Blowing – this is also very effective. You can choose to use this method to remove all the loose debris.

e. Drainage – ensure that the drainage system is not clogged. Look out for standing waters or improper drainage surfaces.  If it is not functioning well you can always call a professional to help repair it in order to prevent health problems.

f. Check the playing equipment to ensure that they are safe. You may realize that some equipment are broken or damaged. In most cases swings chains and seats may be damaged without your awareness.  Equipment made of plastic should be checked regularly too because some may be broken thus causing danger. Checking regularly will ensure that the children’s safety is well taken care of.
