How to Sync Chrome Boomarks with Other Browsers

With hundreds of awesome features, Google Chrome also allows users to export and sync their saved bookmarks to other web browsers. If you also have a collection of your favorite sites, then you can create an HTML file of them. This keeps your collection secure and enables you to import and use your bookmarks on any browser.

Ways to export bookmarks from Chrome browser

You’ve two ways to share your saved bookmarks with other browsers. In one, you need to import bookmarks HTML file manually to the browser, and in other, all of your Chrome bookmarks automatically sync to the browser in which you want.

Way 1: How to export bookmarks from Chrome (HTML file)

You need to access Chrome’s Bookmark manager to export an HTML file of your bookmarks. You can import this file to any browser to get your bookmarks on it.

Tips: Use shortcut ‘Ctrl + Shift + O’ in Chrome browser to open bookmarks manager directly.

1.    Open your Chrome browser.

2.    Click the ‘3 vertical dots’ icon at upper right corner.

3.    Hover the mouse cursor over ‘Bookmarks’ in the menu.

4.    In the bookmarks menu, click ‘Bookmark manager.’

5.    Now, click the ‘3 vertical dots’ icon underneath the Chrome toolbar.

6.    Select ‘Export bookmarks.’ It opens the “Save As” window on the screen.

7.    Click ‘Save’ to finish.

All of your bookmarks will export in an HTML file and saved to the default location.

Way 2: How to sync bookmarks with other browsers

If you have a different browser installed in your computer and want to import your Chrome bookmarks onto it, then synchronizing is the best and shortest way. Just enable the bookmark syncing in Chrome and select the browser to which you want to synchronize.

1.    Open your Chrome browser.

2.    Click the ‘3 vertical dots’ icon at upper right corner.

3.    Hover the mouse cursor over ‘Bookmarks’ in the menu.

4.    In the bookmarks menu, click ‘Import bookmarks and settings.’ This opens a new page where you can choose your other browser.

5.    Click the dropdown button with browser’s name at the top and select your browser.

6.    Click the ‘Import’ button.

Bookmarks will be synced to the browser you have chosen.

How to import bookmarks manually

HTML file of the bookmarks can be imported to any browser of any device. If syncing fails to load all of your saved bookmarks, then you can import them manually.

Steps to import bookmarks in Microsoft Edge

1.    Launch the ‘Microsoft Edge’ browser.

2.    Press the ‘Ctrl + I’ key on the keyboard to open Favorites/Bookmarks window.

3.    Click the blue color text ‘Import from another browser.’

4.    Then click ‘Import from file’ at the bottom.

5.    Browse and select the exported HTML file of bookmarks.

6.    Click ‘Open.’

All of your Chrome bookmarks will import to the Microsoft Edge browser.

To import bookmarks in Microsoft Edge’s Chromium Build:

1.    Launch the ‘Microsoft Edge’ browser.

2.    Press the ‘Ctrl + Shift + O’ key on the keyboard.

3.    Click ‘Import Favorites.’

4.    Click ‘Import from’ dropdown box and select ‘Favorites/Bookmarks HTML file’.

5.    Hit ‘Choose File’ button.

6.    Browse and select the exported HTML file of bookmarks.

7.    Hit ‘Done.’

Steps to import bookmarks in Safari

1.    Launch the ‘Safari’ browser.

2.    Click ‘File’ at the top.

3.    Go to ‘Import From’ in the menu.

4.    In the “Import From” menu, choose ‘Bookmarks HTML File..’

5.    Browse and select the exported HTML file of bookmarks.

6.    Hit the ‘Import’ button at the bottom.

All of your Chrome bookmarks will import to the Safari.

Steps to import bookmarks in Firefox

1.    Launch ‘Mozilla Firefox.’

2.    Press the ‘Ctrl + Shift + B’ key on the keyboard to access Firefox’s bookmarks manager.

3.    Click ‘Import and Backup’ dropdown at the top.

4.    Select ‘Import Bookmarks from HTML..’

5.    Browse and select the exported HTML file of bookmarks.

6.    Click ‘Open.’

All of your Chrome bookmarks will import to the Firefox.

Steps to import bookmarks in Opera

1.    Launch the ‘Opera’ browser.

2.    Click the ‘Settings’ icon at the upper right corner.

3.    Scroll down and click ‘Import bookmarks and settings..’

4.    Click ‘Import bookmarks and settings’ dropdown and select ‘Bookmarks HTML file.’

5.    Hit ‘Choose file’ button.

6.    Browse and select the exported HTML file of bookmarks.

7.    Hit ‘Done.’

All of your Chrome bookmarks will import to the Opera.
