How to Stay Warm in the Cold with merino clothing for kids?

by mambino organics wholesale product sellers store

There is no such thing as bad weather. Only inappropriate clothes! There is so much to love about winter weather - the first snowfall, the brisk, fresh air, and the feeling of the holidays and festive family gatherings feels like magic in all of our lives - especially for kids!

But brrrrr! Baby its cold outside, and cold means sniffling, sick children and sleepless nights for worried parents. Just say no.

In cold weather, the best clothing that keeps you warm and that is also perfect for all seasons is organic merino wool temperature-regulating garments! Breathable, insulating in the winter, moisture-wicking, and snuggly soft and warm, what could be more perfect?

One of the things that make organic merino wool clothing great for winter is that it’s easy to layer it. Gone are the days of bulky layers, feeling like you ARE the snowman when trying to layer, and itchy wool that feels like barbed wire.

You’ll want to choose premium organic merino wool fibers which are finer and create smooth layers rather than bulk. The end results are thin base layers that still have the natural insulating qualities of wool, yet they are super soft and smooth.

Here’s our “how to” that will have your toasty warm kids thanking you!

BASE LAYER

Choosing the right fabric for the base layer is important. Soft, breathable lightweight merino wool responds to the body’s temperature and is also naturally moisture-wicking. Because wool doesn’t retain odors, it can be aired out between clothes and reworn multiple times before needing to be washed.

For warmth, merino wool wins over cotton. Cotton is a very porous textile which holds onto moisture and doesn’t have any insulating properties.

INSULATOR OUTER LAYER

In very cold weather, an insulating layer is smart. It keeps you snug and warm by trapping heat between layers. Merino knitwear and warm sweaters can add warmth without feeling bulky.

OUTER LAYER

Choose a good coat that is waterproof and windproof. The good news is that if you properly layer your body with the right clothes, the outermost layer (coat) will be perfect to protect you from the elements and keep your body warm and dry.

LITTLE HEADS, HANDS AND FEET

Heat escapes from our heads, hands and feet!

Choose a hat that covers your child’s ears, and if possible, with an attached chin strap or scarf so it doesn’t easily fall off. Balaclavas are not easy to find, but are a perfect solution to wear alone or even under a hat or hood. It’s a sure fire way to protect your child’s head, even if their hood falls off. Kids have a lot of fun with it too, as they play with the multiple ways you can wear it!

Just as important are covering those little toes! Inside or outside, during the cold winter months, you’ll want merino wool socks that keep those little feet warm (even when they get wet!). Naturally odor resistant, you’ll get a lot of wear out of every pair.

Lastly, one of the best feet covering options for kids are sheepskin booties. They not only feel like clouds for your child’s feet, they are a practical and adorable winter must.

So when winter hits, be prepared. Then just go outside, play in the snow, go sledding, and most of all, stay cozy warm all season long!
