when yellow icon with the padlock is crossed by red cross, it means there is no connection between the laoptop and sd connect unit, this fault is not related to MB Star C4 diagnostic software(2012.11), but windows xp networking functions, which often changes to “obtain ip address automatically”.

If this happens, try to do t he following step of sd connect wireless multiplexer LAN + WIFI Configuration:

1. Connect LAN cable to the star c4 mercedes Unit and your Laptop.

2: power up SD connect uni(Internal batteries must be fully charged or the unit must be connected with a car

or obd-ii power adapter )

3: click the SD connect Icon on the button task bar.

4: you should be see the window as below:

5: clock “select mux” and check if SD connect unit is “Acessible”, select it and click “select”

6: windows should find the SD connect unit automatically and get the connection, if this will not happen(Limited or no connectivity), go to main menu start, connect to , show all connetions.

7: in “show all connection” select local area connection…”

8: select “local area connection….” then, right click and go to “properties”

9: select internet protocol(TCP/IP) then “properties”

10: check “use the following ip address”, in the fields manually type one of the following ip address of yourSD connect unit: 172.29.168.112, 172.127.129. click on subnet mask field once and it will fill automatically, then click ok.

11: close, at this moment your sd connect unit should connect with your pc(laptop)

12: check in my connection if the status is “connected”.

13: Go to STAR UTILITIES(icon on the desktop). select self diagnosis button, select caesar self diagnosis, then push “NO” button on next two screens. start self test. it takes about 45 seconds and the bar is moving, at this moment the padlock on yellow 21 icon should lock itself for a time of the test, the self test will generates a report with no errors listed. it means your SD connect is okay, and it is connected, you can start DAS or xentry diagnosis

Notice: Every time the SD connect unit connect with the laptop, and exchange date the padlock on yellow 21 icon is locked, if not, it means there is no connection between SD connect unit and laptop
