HOW TO SET DUAL LANGUAGES ON GOOGLE HOME
In case you are
bilingual, then you most probably switch back and forth between the languages
that you know. Thankfully, Google Assistant can smoothly transition between
multiple languages. You can add another language to your Google Home device
from the Google Home app on your phone.
Adding
another language to Google Home
1. Launch the Google Home application on your
Android or iOS phone or tab.
2. Tap on the burger icon located at the upper
left-hand edge of the display.
3. Now, scroll down and tap on More settings.
4. Select Preferences.
5. Tap on Assistant languages.
6. Select the Add a language option present below
the language that is currently set.
7. Select the language you want to add.
8. Now, just command “OK, Google” to the Google
Home smart device in the main language.
9. From now on, you will be able to communicate
with Google Home in either of the two languages.
10. When you set up dual languages via the Google
Home app, the changes will get applied to all the connected Google Home
devices.
Note: Speak only in
either of the two languages as Google Assistant will not understand commands
that comprise of words of both languages.
Adding/changing
a language for matching the language settings on your Android device
1. On the Android phone or tab
2. Open the Google Home app.
3. Go to the Settings section.
4. Navigate to the Systems segment.
5. Select Languages and Input.
6. Select Languages.
7. In case only a single language is set, then
select the Add a language option.
8. Select the language you want to add. Ensure
that it is compatible with Google Home and Google Assistant.
9. If you want to set your second language as the
primary language, then hold down the second language option and drop it to the
first position.
Adding/changing
a language for matching the language settings on your iOS device
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap on General.
3. Select Language and Region.
4. In case only a single language has been added,
select the Other languages option.
5. Tap on the language you want to add.
6. Select the Keep “Language Name” option in the
confirmation prompt.
Note: If you wish to
make the second language as your primary language, then just press on the Edit
option and hold down the three stripes located beside the second language.
Place it in the first position.
For changing the
primary language prior to setting up another one, just select iPhone language.
Touch the preferred language and hit the Done button.
Removing
the Second Language
From
Google Home
1. Go to the Google Home app.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Select Assistant languages.
4. Select the option for the second language.
5. Now, select None from the list.
From
Android phone or tab
1. Go to the Android settings app.
2. Select Language from the list.
3. Tap on the menu icon at the upper right-hand
corner of the display.
4. Now, select the Remove option.
5. Select the language that you need to remove.
6. Touch the Trash icon at the upper right-hand
edge of the screen.
7. In the confirmation prompt, select OK.
From
iOS Devices
1. Go to the Language and Region settings.
2. Select the Edit option at the upper right-hand
edge of the screen.
3. Select the red colored remove option located
to the left of the language you want to remove.
4. Select the Delete option.
5. Hit the Done button.
6. In the confirmation prompt, tap on Continue.
