It is 2023. Riots
spread throughout your city like a wildfire. Last night a business in the
neighborhood next to yours got set on fire. No one is safe… or at least that is
how you feel. You are middle-aged and have never been prone to violence in your
life. But now it feels like it is everywhere…and the only escape is to buy into
it.
The next morning you
go into a sporting goods store, trudging along wearily. You did not want to be
there, but for some reason you felt as if you needed to be. You walk around the
store until you finally see it…the firearm section. You walk forward as the
salesperson greets you. They ask you what you are looking for and you freeze.
“What am I looking for?” you think to yourself. You engage in a friendly
conversation with them, and they recommend a GLOCK 19 as it is one of the most
highly rated handguns in today’s world. You purchase it and walk to your car.
“What now?” you whisper to yourself. You decide to go straight home and hide it
under your bed. Safe, right? You sit down and realize that you know nothing
about this gun or how it works. How is it supposed to be your source of
protection if you do not even know how to use it?
This is a problem in
our world today. We buy guns for safety. I mean it is our right to do so. But
there is a lack of training for these firearms. Whether people do not have
enough time, funds, or whatever else that may take place, there is a lack of
proper firearm training. There is no one to blame for this. It just happens.
But is there a way to minimize the accidents that occur from civilians using
firearms?
The quick answer is
yes. While there is no permanent fix to every accident that occurs from our
ability to practice the Second Amendment, there is a way to minimize accidents
and maximize on gun skills and safety.
Dry fire training has emerged in the last couple of years, or
more specifically, it has been modernized with a firearms training simulator. It is just like shooting a gun in real time except there is no
ammunition in the gun. It can be done in many different places at many
different times. That is what makes is so accessible. The saying goes practice
makes perfect, right? The more you practice this way, the easier you will
acquire the skills necessary to properly keep and use a firearm if ever
prompted to do so. With this new type of training, civilians will benefit in
real time and be able to do it when it fits into their own schedule. No more
“it takes too much of my time to take part in the training.” Now you can
practice safely with your gun in the comfort of your own home so if something
bad ever were to happen, you would be able to assess the situation and develop
a plan of next steps instead of charging for your gun under the bed and
swinging it around scared of what it may do.
