Lash extensions may be your first choice if you want to seem more youthful and appealing without wearing makeup. As lash extensions give volume and lift your face, you appear younger.

You can certainly remove the lash extensions at home. But what do the specialists think about this, and is it safe to remove extensions at home? On the internet, there is a lot of disinformation concerning "How to Remove Eyelash Extensions at Home."

Step 1: Wash your face
Gently wash your face and eye region to remove any built-up makeup or dirt in the lashes, being careful not to strain or push on the eye area. I like to start by using an oil-based cleanser to assist loosen the lashes and make removal easier.

Step 2: Give steam to your face
Fill a basin or your sink with hot water and lay your face over it. Cover your head with a towel to prevent steam from escaping.

Stay in this posture for 15 to 20 minutes to gently soften the best eyelash extension glue and release the adhesive. While waiting, I generally put on my earplugs and listen to my favorite music.

Step 3: Heat the oil
Coconut oil is excellent for removing lash extensions, but you may also use olive oil, MCT oil, or other vegetable oils (more on which oils are best later).

Warm the oil in a small dish for a few seconds before using it. Use your finger to test the oil to make sure it is not too hot to touch before applying it.

Step 4: Soak some cotton pads in oil
Soak one to two cotton pads in the oil once it's heated. Allow the pad to rest over one eye for five to ten minutes. Now, delicately rub the pad across your eyelashes, allowing the oil to rest for a few minutes.

Step 5: Take off the extensions

Gently rub a q-tip dipped in your preferred oil across your eyelashes until they begin to fall out. Make sure the lashes fall out naturally. You risk injuring your natural lashes if you tug or pull on them, so continue with caution.

Steps 4 and 5 should be repeated with your second eye

Step 6: Wash your face one more!
After you've removed your extensions, wash your face again, but this time with a mild oil-free cleanser like Cetaphil to remove any remaining oil and glue such as Sky glue from your skin.

Do not Cut, pluck, pull, or massage your lash extensions! Ever. This may harm your natural lashes or, worse, injure your eyes. Instead, take a hot shower to remove the adhesive on your lash line.

As much as you want to pull the extensions off quickly, remember to keep your hands away from the lashes.

In a nutshell
Power comes from knowledge. You'll save money on salon visits if you invest some time and effort in learning how to correctly remove your eyelash extensions at home. You'll also learn a lot about how to care for your extensions, which I believe is invaluable.

To remove lash extensions properly, you'll need the correct materials and some practice. Most essential, if you have any doubts, go see your lash technician!
