How to Recover Quickbook Password?

QuickBooks users mainly are small-business owners and accounting professionals. In order to prevent their confidential files and transactions from third-party viewing, they use an encryption method: Password. For gaining access to view or edit, the user has to first enter the password set by the owner of the file. 

The problem occurs when you forgot a specific file’s password. But during you set a password, you will be asked a security question, you need to remember the question and the answer to that question added by you. If you are unable to recall the answer to that question, you need to contact QuickBooks/Intuit, they will provide you the access code of that file.

There are certain errors of this type such as QuickBooks unrecoverable error and  QuickBooks error code 80070057.

There are two types of passwords in the QuickBooks application; Admin password and User password. Admin or Administrator password is the password created and set by the owner of that file. On the other hand, the User password is the password that Admin gives the users to access a particular file or folder.

Resetting the Admin password

• Go to the company Log-in window and click on ‘I forgot my password’ or ‘Forgot Password’?
• From the drop-down list, choose your email and click ‘Next’. A token will be sent to your mail id to reset your password. 
• Type the token sent to your email.
• Enter a new password.
• You will be asked a security question again.
• Select a security question.
• Type the answer to that question.
• Click ‘Save’.

Resetting the User password

You can contact your Admin to provide you the password.

• Sign in as the admin user. 
• Proceed to Company, go to Set Up Users and Passwords. Choose ‘Set Up Users’.
• Again, type the admin password.
• From the User list, choose the user who needs to change the password, click ‘Edit User’.
• Type a new password.
• Click ‘Next’ twice, click ‘Finish’.

Note: If QuickBooks is not able to find your account according to the information you provided, you will be provided with another method to verify your account and reset the password.
