How to quickly level up to level 60 in WoW Classic

by Jack Johnson Designer

With the launch of the World of Warcraft Classic servers on August 27th, some "newcomers" may be surprised that progress in the iconic Blizzard game is so slow. However, this is what attracts WoW Classic - the vanilla version will allow all of us not only to remember the glorious times, but also to look at the content in a new way.

For some, WoW Classic will be a nod to a time when MMOs were more meditative and calmer, allowing veterans to focus on leveling instead of endgame content. For others, this is an opportunity to participate in high-level PVP or raids / dungeons in the form in which they existed many years ago. If you belong to the second group, then your focus will be on leveling up to level 60 and preparing for the "real" content.

Let's look at some simple steps you need to take to level up WoW Classic as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Dungeons vs Quests vs Grind

In modern expansions, spamming dungeons (or islands in Battle for Azeroth) is the most efficient way to level up. However, due to the layout of vanilla dungeons, and the difficulty in finding and saving groups for WoW Classic, this won't work. If you don't have high-level friends willing to guide you through the dungeons, you'll have to limit yourself to combining quests with dungeons.

Luckily, WoW Classic is chock-full of quests, and if you take advantage of the rest XP bonus, you can get to level 60 without having to grind at all.

Class selection

The best choice for a quick leveling would be a high damage class that doesn't rely on pets and is a "pure" fighter class, i.e. no tank or healer specializations. Mages and Rogues are the best.

Pet classes like Warlocks and Hunters deal decent damage but are slow to level up as they only get decent pets after a few levels, but they also have to constantly resurrect, summon, or feed pets. In addition, both classes need special supplies - arrows or ammo for hunters, or soul shards for warlocks.

Alternatively, you can play as a tank (warrior or paladin), chasing mobs and bludgeoning them to death, use vault of the incarnates boost  which works best when you play with a damage specialist friend.

Group or solo?

It makes no sense for damage dealing characters to play in a group, except in dungeons, since the experience for each mob killed will be divided equally.

If you still want to play with a group of friends, while quickly leveling up to level 60, this is justified by the fact that you will complete quests faster. However, you should be prepared for a small grind of mobs.

The exception is hybrid classes or tanks. Leveling alone for them can be extremely slow.

Prepare a place to drop things

Inventory management, especially green items for sale or crafting materials, is time consuming. Immediately create a spare character, go to the capital and park there. You can not only send him all unnecessary things for sale without wasting time going to the city, but also free up your main inventory. And you will also accumulate rest on the "bank" character.

If you want to level up faster, it is recommended to wait with professions until you reach level 60. Gathering professions (herbalism, mining) will slow you down, but they are worth it if you plan on crafting later or want to auction materials to afford expensive level 40 and 60 mounts. It is worth noting that in WoW Classic, experience is not issued for the extraction of resources.

Weapon choice

The weapon skills that were present in Vanilla WoW are returning, which means that by leveling up your character, you will also raise the skill of using the selected weapon. It's a good idea to choose a weapon type that's generally available to your class or specialization and stick with it so you don't waste time on misses during fights while the skill is maxed out. As a rule, it is worth waiting until the right type of weapon drops before upgrading.

This also applies to non-combat skills like picking locks for rogues. It is better to wait for the maximum level. This way, you don't have to kill extra monsters just because the pickpocket failed.

Choose a PvE server

Playing on a PvP server will slow down the leveling. Therefore, if you don't care which server to play on, choose PvE. In this case, the only red names you see will belong to monsters, and not to players who are much more dangerous than any mob.

Know Your Quests

If you're not familiar with vanilla, it's worth taking the time to review guides and chat with more experienced friends to learn the most efficient quest routes. Knowing the location of the monsters needed to kill and planning the delivery of quests so that you do not have to run around again will save a lot of time.

Alternatively, you can also install the Questie mod, which places available quests and objectives on the map.
