How To Protect Your Car from Hail Damage

by Novus AutoGlass Novus Auto Glass

The optimum way to protect your car from hail damage is to park your car either in your garage, or carport if you have one.  Not all people have a garage or carport, so there are other ways to protect your car from hail damage.

One good way to protect your car from hail damage is to park it under an overhang at a business or parking lot if one is available.  If no overhang is available, then try your best to park next to a tall building if possible.

Another way to protect your car from hail damage is to utilize a car cover to soften the impact of the hair.  If you do not own a car cover, try covering your car with a tarp or even blankets.  The protection provided will be just as good as a car cover.

It is very important to protect your windscreen from hail damage.  You may not have thought of it but placing your vehicle floor mats on your windscreen will provide adequate protection from hail damage.  They would also work for the back windows of your car.

All the steps mentioned above work well when you have advance warning of an approaching hail storm.  There are times that you may find yourself out and about and an unexpected storm arises.  The best advice in these circumstances is to seek as much cover as you can find as soon as possible.  Driving in a hail storm will only exacerbate the damage your car will receive.

The best courses of action, then, are:  (1) prepare in advance for adverse weather that could damage your care; (2) keep an eye on present and future weather conditions; and (3) take immediate action if caught out in an unexpected storm.
