How To Progress From Care Assistant To Full NHS Nurse?

by Tyler P. A Passionate Blogger - Entertainment
If you have a burning urge to help people as a nurse, you could join health care assistant courses online as a stepping stone to a fulfilling career in the health services. This is possible even if you do not have prior training in the medical field.

People who join health care assistant courses online can serve in various capacities related to helping the sick. These could include working in elderly care homes, physiotherapy, and much more. As long as you have the enthusiasm and ambition, a rise to a fulltime career will eventually come.

Getting Started
To create the background you lack in health training, enroll for healthcare assistant training online. If working in the medical field is something you have ambition for, you will benefit a lot from this training and it will open up a number of opportunities within the health industry. Choose what interests you the most and focus on that.

Learn More as an Assistant
When you complete your training, you can apply for a job as an assistant. Usually, this will allow you to work side by side with a qualified nurse and you can learn a lot from observing as well as doing. With years of experience as an assistant, you can apply to do nursing courses. Look out for apprenticeship opportunities that NHS usually advertises.

Train as an Associate
You can benefit even more if you apply to become a nursing associate. This is partly study and work. You will spend some time in a classroom and more time in placement. The placements will vary so that you can get a feel of what it is like to be a nurse in different fields.

Nursing associates may have to travel to other places to take up placements and will need to get used to working different shifts. There are several expectations you would be required to meet which include showing your commitment and ability to work with different kinds of sick people, including mentally ill, physically handicapped, and those with learning disabilities.

At the end of the associate training, it will be determined if you can progress to the next step.

Taking up Apprenticeship
A nursing apprentice is similar to being an associate but there is more study involved. An apprentice nurse is trained to take up graduate training to become a full nurse. You will have to balance your time between study in a higher institution of learning and working in a medical setting. An apprentice nurse is held to the same standard as a student nurse and will have to take up various placements that include training under the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Make a Choice
After the nursing apprenticeship, you can decide which level to continue to. You can choose to study for level 5 nursing or level 6. At the end of that, you will be a full NHS nurse. You can go ahead to apply for nursing jobs.

Congratulations
After years of diligent work and study both online and in a physical classroom as well as hours in medical settings, you qualify to be a nurse. This can all be achieved by taking the first step to become a healthcare assistant.
