Deactivating
colors settings through Group Policy method
In
case you have a pro version of Windows 10, the most preferred method to
deactivate color modification settings is applying the “Local Group Policy
Editor.”
Follow
these steps to prevent the secondary user from modifying the Window color:
- First of all, launch
the “Start” button.
- Look for the “gpedit.msc”
and then hit “OK” to expand the policy editor window.
- Now go to User
Configuration. Click on Administrative Templates and select the Control
panel. At last, move to Personalization.
- Navigate towards the
right panel on color changing and appearance options.
- Then deactivate the
color management for the user.
- Now tap on the “Apply”
option.
- Then press the “OK”
button.
When
the process completes, no other user can modify your Windows color. In case you
wish to modify or change your Windows 10 desktop color, you have to change it
by these similar steps but on step no 5, you have to choose the “Not
configured” button.
Deactivating
colors settings by Registry method
It is
another way of preventing a user from changing your window color. In this case,
we recommend the user to take an overall backup of your documents before
continuing this procedure.
If
you have the Home edition of this Windows 10, you will not be able to proceed
with this function by the Policy Editor method.
To
modify the color scheme, follow these points:
- First of all, click on
the “Start” button to open.
- Look for the “regedit”
and then tap on the uppermost result to launch the “Registry” window.
- Then follow these
paths by entering it on the search bar:
- “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System”
- You may also apply the
copy & paste option to go directly to the key result
- Then tap the right
mouse button on the “System” tab and then press the “New” button. Now hit
on the DWORD (32-bit) value.
- Then provide a name to
the tab as “NoDispAppearancepage.”Then hit the enter button.
- Now tap double on
freshly generated DWORD. Then arrange the section from 0 to 1 to prevent
the modification of window appearance.
- Tap on the “OK”
button.
- Then click your right
mouse button on the “Policies” option and hit on the “New” tab. Then press
on the “key” option.
- Here provide a name
for your key “System.” Then hit the enter key to proceed further.
- Click your right mouse
button on the freshly generated key. Then choose the “New” option and then
hit the DWORD (32-bit) value.
- Now you have to
provide a name to the button as “NoDispAppearancePage” then tap the Enter
key.
- Then click your mouse
button twice on freshly generated DWORD. Now arrange its sequence from 0
to 1 to deactivate its color scheme.
- Finally hit the “OK”
button to finish the process.
Once
you complete all these steps, the other user will be unable to change the color
of your desktop that you regularly use.
