How to Organize Sleep Tracking on Apple Watch

by Sakht Martin Freelancer

You must have heard about the in-built sleep tracking apps on various devices that measure the time and how well you snoozed. Some people have the image that such sleep trackers don’t work, however they do.

Apple Watch Series 3 and newer consists of sleep tracking that takes down data when you set it up and go to bed while wearing the watch. Are you surprised that there could be such a feature? If you own an Apple Watch or are a potential buyer, you must know about using the sleep tracking feature.

Though we’ve mentioned about setting up a tracker on your watch, it is much simpler to do the same with the help of an iPhone. All you need to do is make sure that you update your iPhone to iOS 14 or later, and your Apple Watch to watchOS 7 or later.

Setting Up Sleep Tracker on Your iPhone

The steps to set up a sleep tracker on your iPhone are:

  1. Launch the ‘Health’ app from the home screen on your Apple device. You may use Spotlight Search alternatively.
  2. Select the ‘Browse’ tab from the bottom of the window.
  3. Click on the ‘Sleep’ option from the menu.
  4. Click on the ‘Full Schedule & Options’ button. Here you can set a sleep schedule. Once you set the schedule, your watch will track your sleep activity accordingly. You may also set the alarm as the morning routine.
  5. Click on the ‘Set Your First Schedule’ option under the Full Schedule section.
  6. Select the days of the week for which you want to set the tracking schedule and wake up alarm.
  7. You can set an alarm sound and ‘Snooze’ option under the ‘Alarm Options’ section.
  8. Once you’ve set the schedule, hit the ‘Add’ button on the top-right corner.

Fortunately, you can add multiple schedules for yourself. All you need to do is follow the same steps and add a new schedule.

  1. Next, add ‘Sleep Goal,’ ‘Window Down,’ and ‘Wind Down Settings.’
  2. Click on the ‘Options’ button to expand the settings window and enable any settings for the Sleep Mode menu.
  3. Turn the slider on for the ‘Turn On Automatically’ and ‘Track Time in Bed With iPhone’ options.

Note: The ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature is enabled by default during Sleep Mode.

Thought it to be a complex process? Well, this is pretty much it! Once you follow all the steps mentioned above, the sleep tracker will be enabled on your Apple Watch. You can check the time for which you slept in the ‘Health’ app on your iPhone.

Unluckily, the tracker doesn’t give as accurate data as a device especially meant for it. However, you still might want to know a rough graph on your sleep tracking.
