Jewelry including sea glass pendants is extremely popular in quaint little shops in cute, scenic coastal towns all up and down the shorelines of all major bodies of water. Sea glass is so popular because of the simplistic beauty they possess and the mystery surrounding where the pieces may have come from. When you pick up a piece of sea glass that washed ashore, you can’t help but think where it might have come from. Did is just come from a drinking glass that had broken in some kitchen somewhere or did it come off of a chandelier that was hanging in the king’s palace in some foreign country. The mystic behind the sea glass is one reason why they are so popular. If you can’t get to the shoreline to buy one of these beautiful pieces, you can go to online store at GoodLifeByTheBeach.com and check out the many varieties of one-of-a-kind jewelry for yourself. If you are especially imaginative and creative, you may want to try to try to create a piece of jewelry on your own.

Here are some instructions on how to make a wire wrapped pendant:

Items You Will Need

Sea glass in assorted styles and sizes

24 gauge wire – (10”-12”)

Needle nose pliers – rounded tips

Needle nose pliers – regular tips

Jewelry findings – clasp, eyes, chain

Instructions

1.    Choose a nice piece of sea glass that you would want for a pendant. Understand that this will be hanging from your neck so choose the appropriate size.

2.    Make the loop for the pendant. Fold the piece of wire in half. Use the needle nose pliers with the rounded tips and wrap the 24 gauge wire around it a few times. This will form the loop.

3.    Take it off the pliers and squeeze it together with the regular needle nose pliers. Return the loop back to the rounded tip needle nose pliers and twist the 2 pieces of wire you have hanging around each other. You are creating the spine. Make the spine long enough to run the length of the piece of sea glass.

4.    Now you are ready to wrap the piece of glass. Depending on the shape of the piece will decide how you wrap your glass. You can use your imagination at this point. Run the spine that you created down the back of the glass. Use one of the two strands and wrap it any way you wish for a couple of times and end at the loop. Wrap it around the loop a couple of times and tuck the end in tight so it doesn’t snag on anything. Do the same for the other strand. Add a little style into your wrapping. This is why no two pieces of jewelry are ever the same. The sea glass is different every time and your wrapping of the wire can be also.

5.    You can further your imagination at this point as well. You can use any type of cord or chain you choose and use it for your pendant. Hemp cords are extremely popular and so are silver chains. If you used gold wire, it is advisable to use a gold chain. If you used silver wire, use a silver chain. You can use hemp or rope with either color wire.

These pendants are a great way of making keepsakes out of your treasures that you found while you were on vacation. With a little imagination you can create something that is a conversation piece that you can use to tell everyone about your great vacations or family getaways.
