Shifted to a new home and thinking how will you do the flooring? Whether you will require any assistance while installing the flooring? What will be the duration and are these floors are DIY friendly or not?

Well if proper care and attention is given then easily parquet flooring can be DUY friendly. Parquet flooring is made out from wood and is very sensitive when the weather conditions start to change, mostly in humidity.

Steps to lay the flooring

When the purchase has been made first it needs to be removed and then lay it for 3-4 days in the room which needs the flooring.

While the flooring is getting accustomed to you need to ensure that the sub floor surface is very smooth and flat. By any chance if the sub floor is very concrete then you can decree the surface and ensure that it is flat. And if the concrete is recently laid then you need to cover it with damp proof membrane. Elsewhere, if you are having a wooden surface then you need to decree it with sander or hardwood tiles over the top.

After this the next step is to measure the size of the room to establish how much flooring needs to be done. It is advised to keep the floor tiles in the dry run. This is because of wood humidity that precautionary measures need to be taken and there should be a gap of 10mm between each tile.

The next step is to have a suitable underlay, this is because you have recently placed your new tiles and it is important that you lay piece of cloth on it and then a hardboard on it so that the freshly tiles are not affected.  By kneeling on the hardboard, you can spread your weight over the tiles and with this there are fewer chances of them shifting.

Once all the flooring is laid you need to go around the edges and if there are any gaps you need to fill it with a cork expansion strip, then hide the edge moulding. You could try to avoid edge moulding, but that would then require removing the squirting board. After all this is done then only you can fit the skirting board the expansion strip will be covered with the cork.
