How to Install Skype in Ubuntu Linux

Skype is a popular platform for video and audio calling, messaging, file sharing, video conferencing, and screen sharing. While most Windows PC users have Skype, have you ever considered setting up Skype on your Ubuntu system? So, here are some steps to installing Skype in Ubuntu  

Installing Skype Snap

Here is the process of installing Skype on Ubuntu. Follow the instructions carefully.

•    First, you will have to go to the Ubuntu software.

•    After that, in the search option, enter Skype.

•    Then select Skype in the search results.

•    Now, tap on Install for installing the snap.

•    You may have to wait for the installation to complete.

•    After that, you can open Skype in Ubuntu software.

•    Then go to Skype.

Installing the Skype snap in a Terminal

Here is the process of installing Skype snap in a terminal. Follow the instructions carefully.

•    First, you will have to go to your terminal.

•    After that, upgrade the package list. To do so, enter this command, “sudo apt-get update.”

•    Then enter this command ” sudo apt-get install snapd” to install snapd  and after that when the prompt comes, type your password. Enter Y onced asked.

•    Now, enter “sudo snap install Skype –classic” in the terminal for installing the Skype snap.

•    Then you can open Skype.

Installing Classic Skype

Here is the process of installing classic Skype. Follow the instructions carefully.

•    First, you will have to go to your terminal.

•    Make sure you are using the 32-bit or 64-bit version.

•    After that, you must turn on MultiArch, in case you are using 64-bit Linux.

•    Enter this command sudo add-apt-repository “deb http://archive.canonical.com/ $(Isb_release -sc) partner” and tap on Enter.

•    Now, input “sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install skype.

•    Then hit the Enter key.

Run Skype

Here is the process of running Skype. Follow the instructions carefully.

•    First, you will have to launch Skype.

•    You may have to wait for the Skype app to get loaded.

•    Now, you can sign in with your Skype login ID or Microsoft account.

•    Ensure that your microphone is working.

•    Then check your webcam.

•    And you Skype is ready to use.

Troubleshooting

Here is the process of troubleshooting Skype. Follow the instructions carefully.

•    First, you will have to go to Settings.

•    After that, select the Sound Devices option in the Settings section.

•    Then repair a microphone that is not working correctly.

•    Thereafter repair the webcam if it is not working.

•    Now, adjust your Skype video resolution.
