How to help if you are around someone with Cynophobia or Mysophobia
When we live in a society, there are many times when we are faced with situations that we have to deal with in spite of our aversion to them. One of these conditions is when we have to go out of our way in order to make sure that some who lives near us are not harmed. If you are living in a place where a person with cynophobia or the fear of dogs is also residing, then it can be quite important to keep a few tips in mind if you are a dog owner as well. Although you are well within your rights to keep any kind of dog, within the premises, when you venture outside your home, to walk your dog, or to play with him, then you are in the sphere of the society, so you should make sure you are well aware of his needs, so that the person who is fearful of dogs is not unduly burdened by the presence of your dog.

Do not treat them Like Cripples
The first thing to keep in mind is that the person who is living near you is not a cripple, nor is he is a mentally retarded person. There are many fears, such as the fear of dogs, and mysophobia, the fear of germs, that manifest only when a person is near a certain thing. So this does not mean that you should treat them like a person who has lost their mind. Rather they are a fully functioning, normal, living, breathing human being just like you are.
Help them with information
When you are living with a person who has a fear of dogs, you should make sure that you are not making their life uncomfortable without even noticing it. For example if you have a large dog on the premises, and the person who is living next door to you is fearful of dogs, then it will only take around a minute of your time to call them and tell them that you are taking your dog out for a walk, but it will save them a lot of hassle, and they will not go out during that time.
Prepare for panic attacks
One of the most important things to keep in mind is that sooner or later, the person who has this fear of dogs, and your dog is going to come face to face. No matter what precautions you take, this is bound to happen. You must be prepared to deal with this as well. So if your dog triggers a panic attack, then the first thing to do is to get the dog away from them. Do not go to check on them with the dog near you. Rather tie him come to a place and then render aid.
Do not trigger them
When you live near a person who is fearful of dogs, you may forget that they are suffering from this condition and unknowingly trigger this condition. For example, you make a stop on the street and pet a dog, while they are fearful and they will be scared stiff. This usually happens when people who are dog owners, meet each other on the street and only one of them is walking their dog. The other person stops to chat and pet the dog. However, if you have a person suffering from cynophobia near you, do not stop.
Do not stigmatize them
An important step to take while in the company of people, who fear dogs, is to make sure that you do not mention their condition again and again. Although there is not much of a stigma attached to this condition in our modern society, there is a still a taboo factor attached to any kind of phobia. So you should not mention that they have this phobia again and again in the presence of your friends. This only leads them deeper into the spiraling depression from which they may already suffer.
So, to conclude, you must make sure that you are doing your best to help your friends who have a fear of dogs, you are providing them with space and that you are not making them uncomfortable while you are in the company of other people.
