How to Grow Kratom at Home in Canada?

If you live in Canada or US, you probably would have heard about kratom powder as it gained popularity because of its euphoric effect on the brain. In Canada, these plants are mostly imported from other regions like Indonesia and Thailand. Many people prefer to buy kratom online, but if you want, you can also grow these plants in Canada, but they would require utmost care and protection from cold.

Kratom seeds

The kratom tree is a relative of the coffee plant. It is a native of Southeast Asia and thrives in Thailand, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and other neighboring nations in the Pacific Rim.

You need fresh seeds to cultivate your own kratom, which is nearly impossible to find in the US or Canada and other nations that are far from Southeast Asia. Despite how well-intentioned the seller may be, not many dealers sell kratom seeds that can actually be used for planting.

Just days after being harvested, seeds lose their ability to germinate and grow into trees. So, if you're lucky enough to gain the opportunity to visit Southeast Asia and purchase fresh seeds, you'd have to do it just before boarding a plane to return to your nation, and even that carries certain dangers to the seeds' viability. And keep in mind that not all seeds will germinate, just as with any plant, so it's best to plant several at once and remove extras if you do manage to obtain a few sprouts.

Plant requirements

Soil

For kratom to grow healthily, they must be planted in moist, humus-rich soil. The native Mitragyna Speciosa plant is found in tropical areas, where the soil is naturally very fertile—a crucial element for the growth of your plant. In addition, the soil should have a texture that allows for good drainage.

However, it shouldn't be drained so much that it wipes out all the nutrients along with it. For your Kratom plants to thrive, the soil should have a pH balance between 5.5 and 6.5, rich in nitrogen, and full of humus.

Light

Kratom trees require enough sunlight to photosynthesize and grow effectively like any other plant. However, too much sunlight can lead to excessive transpiration, which causes the plant to lose moisture and wilt. Give your plant some protection during really sunny days to avoid that.

Temperature

Around 21° to 32° Celcius or 70° to 90°, Fahrenheit is the best temperature range for cultivating kratom. If the temperature drops below 15° Celcius or 60° Fahrenheit, the plant struggles and eventually perishes if the temperature goes below 10° Celcius or 50° F, the plant will eventually die.

Given that most of Canada has incredibly low temperatures, even during the day, maintaining this kind of highly hot temperature range of 60° Fahrenheit or higher outside is pretty difficult. Therefore, you need to invest in a greenhouse or grow tents to achieve optimum growth temperature.

This will make growing plants easier and help you to keep your plants thriving even in a difficult situation. So, if you are a budding botanist or Gardner, you can try planting them. But if you only want to use them, then you should probably buy kratom online from stores. There are many kratom stores available in Canada where you can buy white maeng or any other kratom strain.
