How To get Electronic Products Online at Cheaper Prices

by Henry N. Perseverance breeds success

While flying over to America and buying your gadgets there can be cheaper, the time and money spent overall may not be worth it. So how do you buy more affordable electronics as a European?

If you want to buy cheap electronics online, then take a look at this guide. We’ll give you all the insider tips on how to do so.

Use a Price Comparison Website

When you shop in regular stores, you may have to drive from place to place to figure out which shop has the cheapest prices. This can be a huge waste of time and gas.

The presence of online stores means you can look up and compare prices from the comfort of your own home. While this saves time, you can do one better by using a price comparison website.

You type in the name of the product you’re looking for and the site will generate a list of everything it’s found online. It’ll show how much the item is selling for on what website. Google already has a simple version of this built into their search engine, so all you have to do is type the product name into the search bar and click on “shopping” to see some results.

Follow a Deal Tracking Website

There are many like-minded people who want to get their hands on electronics online, but find the pricetags too high. Some of these people are more techy, which means they’re able to put together websites where you can price watch items. Either they’ve hired staff to work around the clock to find deals online, and/or they run some algorithms so price drops are automatically detected.

The greatest thing about following deal tracking websites is you don’t really have to actively do anything. Sure, you can log on and check out what’s dropped in prices lately, but you can also just sit back and relax. Sign up for a newsletter, and they’ll let you know every so often (whether that’s every day, week, or every two weeks) what’s changed in prices.

Some websites also let you add items to price watch. When the prices have dropped, they’ll automatically send you an email to let you know where you can get it cheaper from. If you don’t need your electronics immediately, then this is a great option.

Check out Overstock Sites

While most overstock websites tend to carry things like bedsheets, towels, and furniture, you may get lucky. Sometimes, they’ll carry electronics like computers, TVs, cell phones, and home theater equipment.

While the selections on this type of website may be limited compared to other online electronics stores, it can be a great way to save money if you’re not picky about the brands or models.

As their name indicates, overstock sites get inventory in when there’s a surplus from other retailers, which means their stock is always changing. If you’re patient, you may be able to get something you’ve had your eye on for cheaper prices.

Buy from Retailers in Other Countries

You may have to do a little research for this one, but it may be worth it in the end. There are certain countries where certain electronics are cheaper; for instance, a PS4 is significantly cheaper to buy in Hungary than in other parts of Europe. So if you’re in the market for a PS4, try and find a Hungarian website to buy it off of.

This method of buying does come with its caveats though. Not all online retailers have worldwide shipping. And if they do, the shipping costs may be so high that it’s more expensive than buying the gadget in your home country.

Plus, you may be subject to import taxes if you live in an EU country and are buying from a company located outside of the EU. If you choose this route of purchasing your electronics, be sure to look up all the details beforehand so you know what to expect in terms of fees and taxes.

Look for Coupon Codes Before Checking Out

While you’re shopping on a website, you may be disappointed that the item you want isn’t currently on sale. Electronics will go on sale from time to time, but if you can’t wait, then you can’t take advantage of those. However, you can often find affiliate links and codes that give discounts on purchases made on certain online stores.

For instance, if you have a few items from Gearbest.com in your cart, you can grab some Gearbest coupon codes to enter at checkout. Depending on the time of the year, you may be able to get hefty discounts with the click of a button. Many websites also offer around 10% off for first-time customers, so be sure to look for that discount as well.

By taking a few moments to check the internet for a code, you’ll get a much-needed electronic device that won’t stretch your savings thin.
