How to Fix Spotify Freezing on iPhone 8

You opened the Spotify app on your iPhone 8, and it just froze? Well, this is not an uncommon issue, and it can be fixed easily. Just go through the blog and apply the methods given to fix Spotify freezing on iPhone 8.


Fix 1: Force quit and relaunch Spotify

If your Spotify app is working erratic, then you can fix the issue be restarting it. In case you are facing the app freeze issue for the first time, then it may just be a random glitch that can be quickly fixed with a restart. Just follow the instructions given below:

  • Slide upwards from the screen’s bottom to the center.
  • Do not release until the App Switcher appears.
  • Navigate the screen and find Spotify.
  • Long press the Spotify app.
  • Select the minus button.
  • Now, the Spotify app will get closes.
  • Wait for a minute, and then tap on the Spotify app to open it again.

Fix 2: Perform a soft reset

In case the previous method did not work, then you can conduct a soft reset. This will help in troubleshooting small software glitches that are causing the Spotify app to freeze. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Long press the Power button.
  • Wait for the Power off slider to appear.
  • Push the Power Off slider for turning your phone off.
  • Wait for a minute, and then long press the Power button.

Your iPhone 8 will turn back on.

In case your iPhone 8 froze after the app crashes, then here’s how you can restart it:

  • Short press the Volume up button.
  • Now, do the same with the Volume Down button.
  • Long press the Side button and allow the phone to restart.

Fix 3: Clear background apps

  • Now, long press the app, and press the Minus option.

Fix 4: Check for updates

Updates are released on a regular basis, and they include improvements and fixes. If you do not auto-update the apps, then you will have to do so manually. Here’s how you can manually check for and install Spotify updates.

  • Open the App Store.
  • Tap on the Updates option located at the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
  • Now, hit the Update button located beside Spotify.
  • In case there are multiple app updates, then select the Update All option.

Fix 5: Reinstall the Spotify app

If none of those mentioned above fixes worked, then you need to uninstall and reinstall the Spotify app on your iPhone 8. Here’s how:

  • Hold down the Spotify app icon.
  • Wait till the apps start shaking on the screen.
  • Hit the X button located beside the Spotify icon.
  • In the confirmation prompt, select Delete.
  • Now, reboot your iPhone 8.
  • Go to the App Store and install Spotify again.
